Ebay seller lol

Don't all sellers have their addresses published on the listing now?

Just general location I believe, i.e. Manchester. I'm sure it'd be against data protection to just have it out there unless you're a business seller

I'm sure it was one of the changes that they've recently made, although maybe it only shows when you've actually purchased an ite,

I'm confused!

That would perhaps make sense, although I'd be a bit concerned that people could see you had a big plasma for sale, get your address by 'winning' but not paying then coming round and stealing it. Perhaps a slightly paranoid outlook but stranger things have happened.

Even so it doesn't help in some cases - I bought a backbox for my car for example a while back and went to collect it in London, the seller never turned up at his warehouse lot so I spent the day visiting some friends instead.

I got it posted later instead with free delivery after a quick "threat" of small claims.

I have to be honest, I really wanted to finish setting up my ebay account a while ago. Now I am happy I didn't bother. To many complaints from people on something going wrong.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it - but if the product is cheaper than alternatives, they do that so they save on fees.

£1 item and £9 postage - cheaper for the seller, and they usually pass on some of the savings to the customer.

I sold a 7.5Ton lorry on ebay.. guy rang me but didn't collect.

He also further ignored emails and calls, so I reported him. It depends on the situation, I wouldn't bother reporting someone for something so petty usually but this guy is obviously trying to screw you out of each and every penny by insisting on delivery.

Makes you wonder how many people he's scammed already. Most questions I get can be solved from reading the item description.. utter ignorance on the part of the buyers, and one reason ebay is still around.

They're making people do free postage instead soon to try and prevent that

hahahaha

yeah and what will they do when nobody wants to sell anything anymore, because thats what's going to happen.

Then they'll reduce their fees  Thats what a free market* is called.

*Although ebay's dominance in second hand sales combined with network externalities may violate that. In which case you'll have to set up your own website at a cost as well as advertising or sell at ebay.

I've been with ebay over 4 years now. I have to say I have never had a problem with this.

You see its pretty simple you read the item description. If the p+p charges are stupidly high you simply click your back button and ignore the post :p
I honestly dont see the point of moaning about an item you have not even bought.

Also if someone bought an item off me and then complained about the p+p charges I would tell them to GTFO ! end of the day I have stated the p+p price on the listing BEFORE they made a bid. You cannot negotiate prices after you have won an item imo.

But then again I dont put outrageous p+p charges on my listings.

Indeed, they're trying to entice people back to sell their stuff by offering free 99p listings. A few years ago this used to work, as attention would be gotten by such a cheap listing. However it doesn't seem to these days; either that or people have gotten more impatient and are clicking on the buy it now buttons instead.
