So no big signings for Arsenal..nothing unusual there but i kinda wish Wenger would make a big name signing..hopefully the guys he will sign or wants to sign are of decent quality.

If this happens I will be completely stupefied. And very, very disappointed. Can't imagine there's much in this, though.
We have money and don't need the swap deal. Plus, MON loves Ash, and he only signed a 4 year deal at the end of the season before last (or the start of last season, I forget).
Contracts mean sod all to footballers.

I seriously can't be the only one who thinks that his defensive ability is so far away from top 4 standard (Bosingwa, Sagna) that this has to be a joke, and that's confirmed by the price tag. £18m? What the heck? I'd be apprehensive paying £8m.
A decent enough buy for 8million and £45k per week. Will be interesting to see how much they think he's getting per week.
Staggering signing for someone distinctly average.

It's really messed up isn't it? Few clubs being able now to flaunt just epic amounts of money, whereas once again we're not or we won't.
What's happened with ther Ajax defender? I thought we'd signed him and it was either due to personal differences or Wenger playing "le game"....

I think that Vermaelen has already signed according to the Dutch/Belgian press, just sorting out the finer details in the contract, recently Wenger seems to take a while over the contract details. Not entirely convinced he's perfect for what's needed, but I'm happy Wenger has adressed the problem and apparently he's been watched all season by the club's scouts, so if he is rubbish then Wenger is only the beginning of the problems and the scouts must have all started seeing things over night. I'm happy to give him a chance, from what I can tell his main selling point is the ability to win a looot of headers, which is good

He's rubbish, unless you are talking about his ability going forward, which is passable at times.
So because the Sun hasn't linked us with anyone that means we won't sign anyone... It's not like the window closes at 12.53 today is it? Plenty of time to sign a few players, not counting the ones that have signed for the youth team.

I don't care about rumours, that wasn't what I was talking about! I just don't think Wenger will spend silly money on OK players, and that looks like what it's going to be this summer
