Well national players wont come cheap and we still need more for the 6+5 rule.
hahaas the revolving door continues to swing at White Hart Lane

Didn't realise that'd been enforced. I very much doubted it would have been. :/

Can't work out if you're saying that's positive or not :/
I don't care about rumours, that wasn't what I was talking about! I just don't think Wenger will spend silly money on OK players, and that looks like what it's going to be this summer
It isn't yet:
1. 4+7 for 2010-2011
2. 5+6 for 2011-2012
3. 6+5 for 2012-2013
I think it's still being called illegal by the European Parliament.
good player and great addition to the team if we can complete the signing of Johnston. Nice he turned down Chavski and City no matter how much money they threw at him ;p regarding the fee, who cares ? hes quality!

The 6 + 5 rule is still a few years as there is a period of 4 + 7 progressing to 6 + 5. iirc the homegrown rule means that it's home grown talent eligible for the teams country of origin. I think what we will see is that plenty of players from abroad will be joining the big clubs with money at a younger age. When they have played for a team for 5 years they are eligible for citizenship.
I care!!! I'm perfectly happy getting Johnson - he's a class player
Anyone reckon we'll sell Johnson back to Pompey in January for £13mil![]()
I care!!! I'm perfectly happy getting Johnson - he's a class player, and a little better than Arbeloa; however, even if we get £8mil for Arby, that's still a net spend of £10mil on Johnson, which I have 2 problems with:
First, that £10mil would be far better spent on a striker, winger or left back.
Second, Johnson isn't worth £10mil more than Arbeloa.
I honestly think that Johnson is one of the best right backs in the league, probably behind Bosingwa and Sagna, but unless we are getting Dani Alves I wouldn't spend £18mil on any right back in the world...we need to strengthen other areas of the team!
If Benitez comes out and sticks another £20mil on Silva or someone like that then fair enough; he's obviously having a big spending summer. But if, as seems very possible, this is our one big buy, it seems like an odd one.
Stranger things have happened than Liverpool getting a transfer wrong

I'll reserve judgment until the end of the summer, but if Benitez thinks its good value and Capello obviously believes in the player then hopefully it will turn out to be a good signing.

I think it's crazy, why campaign so aggressively about getting racism out of football and then saying you can only have a few foreigners playing for you, because they're foreign. It isn't adding up.
