**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I am going to say no chance. I dont think we have the funds for one, but more importantly Villa has been absolutely adamant for a number of years now that he really REALLY doesnt want to leave Spain (which doesnt surprise me considering the area he comes from).

I would still be very surprised if he moved anywhere exterior to Spain. Very surprised.

Probably his main contract/team in his whole career though, maybe he wants to be in England for his peak? Who knows. I don't get the feeling he'll leave Spain, especially not if Barca or Real offer him/Valencia anything at all.

But how will you fit your players into that system, especially the 4-3-3? You need three decent goal scorers for the front three there, and since Tevez looks like he'll be off, Ronaldo already is, Rooney wants to play up front, and Berbatov is hardly a mobile roaming forward winger, you're not exactly blessed with the options for it any more.

You don't need to have 3 decent strikers to play a 4-3-3. You need 3 really technically proficient players who can drift into 2,3 or 4 different formations during a game. Any one of the formations on it's own leads to a degree of predictability. Let's not forget we have lost one player upto now in Ronaldo, It does not mean that how we play has to change drastically.

What I see from Utd next season is the back bone of

GK VDS/Foster

2 CB's from Vid/Rio/Evans

2 Central midfielders sitting from Anderson/Carrick/Hargreaves(A N Other depending on injuries)

The other 6 will be very fluid around that.

4-4-2 would allow teams like Liverpool with two sitting midfielders to absolutley crucify us next year.

Alright, so they do need more than to score goals, but the goals definitely help. IMO you can't play Nani in the front three, because while he's quick and technical, he's lacking in end product. And even by your definition, where are these players for you now? Ronaldo gone, Tevez uncertain, Rooney demanding a more central position (which would clash directly with Berbatov). Who am I missing?

You'd need at least three players to come in now to keep playing that same formation.

Really? It's just a 4-4-2/4-2-4 with a more withdrawn second striker. The point is though, it was designed to fit the players they have.

Don't think Arsenal need to sign anyone.

.

Best position they've had in years.

I hope this Melo rumour is true. He seems to tick all the right boxes for a strong defensive midfielder, already plays for a good club, isn't stupidly young, and looks like he might be about to become Brazil's regular DM. Yes please.

Don't know anything about him but if he's good and we get him and that Ajax CB i'll be a little happier about next season. Would still like to sell Ade and get another striker in.

Most probably won't happen, but if it did! :D

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may help Real Madrid recoup some of their extravagant summer spending by thrashing out a £37m deal to sign winger Arjen Robben, striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar and defender Gabriel Heinze.

Aye, it's all gone a bit quiet on the Adebayor front now Ancelotti has moved from AC, unfortunately. I can't see him suddenly deciding to put effort in if he's doesn't get his 'Beyonce' any more, so he'll just end up as dead weight. A decent replacement for him, and possibly for Gallas if we lose him, and anything else will be a bonus.

Devastated about the lack of noise coming from/about Ade, can't stand that man and I think his attitude is now awful, a few seasons ago he was everywhere and you could forgive his offsides as he ran so damn much, now what doesn't make sense is that he doesn't chase the ball anywhere at all, can't finish, can't create space or any opportunities, still gets caught continuously offside and he thinks he's made it. Absolutely gobsmacking, massive idiot.

You arent his agent are you? :D

Reports in Spain have claimed that Barcelona are preparing to complete a swoop that will see them land Robinho on loan from Manchester City with a view to a permanent deal.

Catalan television station TV3 state that an agreement could even be reached in the next 24 hours after the Blaugrana made their interest official, with talks to iron out the details said to be ongoing on at the moment.

Robinho has been quoted as saying that he would welcome a move back to the Spanish league and Pep Guardiola is a known fan of the Brazil international after he stated he would have liked to have signed him 12 months ago.

Reports in both England and Spain have suggested that the 25-year-old former Real Madrid man has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if a team in the UEFA Champions League are keen to secure his services.

Talks about a possible move for Robinho are rumoured to have begun when City enquired about Samuel Eto'o and a deal for the Cameroon striker could be part of the whole package.

With Barcelona wanting Robinho to bolster their options on the left next term after Franck Ribery was put out of reach by Bayern Munich, the Eastlands side are keen on adding a new striker to their ranks.

Would be a shame to see him leave the Premiership after only one season IMO

He's not very good, easily the worst keeper of the top pool of teams (Man Utd, Chelsea etc.) His decision making is sometimes so bad that I think there's a retard in net.

Don't be ridiculous, he wouldn't of held the no 1 spo for so many seasons if he was a "retard".

Reina is over-rated by Liverpool fans.

I guess it would have to be a clause that would let him get out, as I couldn't see Hughes or the Sheiks letting him go willingly. He misfired a bit last season, but it would have been interesting to see if he could have pushed on.

I'd expect him to be a backup for Henry/Messi rather than an Eto'o replacement though. Eto'o's only included in the story because every summer he seems to be linked with nearly every Premiership club. Don't get why, I thought he was pretty died-in-the-wool Barca?

Robinho could really shine in the Premiership if he really wanted to.

To be fair he scored a good few goals for his first season, ok maybe not loads but I reckon he has potential to bu up there with the top scorers through the season if he wasn't such a douche
