Worth getting a G skill Falcon 128gb SSD?

Same here, when i upgraded to i7 i didnt see a great boost of load times in windows etc.. so hopefully this will make that fly, that and games and ill be happy.

Nothing like being in a server about 10 seconds quicker before everyone else

Ok got mine all up and running. Installed Win7 all seems good. Does anyone know of any tweaks (for win7) that need to be done.reg tweaks, page file move etc?

Windows 7 is SSD aware and will do the tweaks for you.

Thanks for that. Have not flashed to current firmware yet. Is there any improvement as its bloody quick at the mo?

improvement in what, the new firmware or using windows7?

windows7 is around 10-15% faster with ssd's as it has been designed to use ssd's optimally and has the TRIM command built in.

Well, mine's turned up. Just booked a half day off work to have a play. Going to update the firmware on it and deciding which flavour of windows 7 to put on. Probably build 7229. Wonder how it will compare to my three raptors in RAID. Should be quieter! Roll on 12:30 and then time for my two hour travel home!

the only tweak i have noticed it doesnt do automatically is the "disable page executive" one. but then that one isnt a major tweak anyway

Iam setting up mine later and helping my father with his later, i take it the best RC win 7 is downloaded from the ms site?

and i just install win 7 and thats it, tweaks already done by windows?

I'm running RC 7100 and I had to turn off defrag myself, haven't check much else yet.

Got mine installed, the firmware upgrade was a pig and had to do it on my main pc instead in the end. Getting about 273 read and 195 write. Used SSD Tweaker on Vista and disabled the paging file.

ours already came with the latest firmware, put win 7 rc on my fathers. tried css and it only took 5 sec to get into a server where it took a good 15 on his hdd for the same server, gona get some sleep and sort mine out later.. seems like a great drive

My write speeds have dropped loads, read speeds are about 220mb/s but write is only about 130mb/s. Even after a fresh install of windows it's the same.

When I run the wiper tool before it used to flash up a box in a split second now it counts up a percentage but that takes a few minutes but after its no better.

I'll get a screen shot when I'm home.

try using windows7 as that has trim built in, should be 10%+ faster with ssd's.

Yeah but until your SSD supports trim in the firmware (and none of them do yet) you won't see any difference.

Vertex and Falcon both support trim.

No they don't yet, not the SATA command. They just have a tool that carries out a similar function.

I put a G skill Falcon 128gb SSD in my rig last night to run windows, office and games from. This HD is brilliant, I just love the speed.

Only slight problem I had was that it didn't show up in "my computer" (showed up every where else tho). Googled it and found that I had to initialise the drive and format it.

Only gripe is the expense, but I've found that if you wait for prices to come down , there is always a newer product that you want instead and that is at a premium price too. Kinda chasing your tail.

10/10 for quality and being great

4/10 for price

Edit: I cloned my C drive onto it, maybe a clean install of windows would saved initialising
