**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I disagree. Liverpool last season finished 4 points behind Man Utd despite taking 6 points of them. Arsenal the season before finished 4 points behind first place. Arsenal are two good players away from consistently challenging for the league title, not 2 or 3 years.

Im not sure what Liverpool have got to do with what I said ;) (if they keep Alonso and Masch, which I think may be unlikely - then they will def be up there again)

I think Arsenal have lost a couple of valuable players since then (without considering RvP if he goes or not) - so that comparison isnt completely valid.
I would suggest its more than two good players (and when has Wenger bought a number of seasononed pros in one window - I dont know for sure but it must be quite rare, which would suggest it would be a few summers to start with)

Maybe Im completely wrong, just the way I see it ;)

In my opinion Arsenal need 1 midfielder and 2 defenders

Villa has said he wants to move to Real Madrid from what Sky sports were saying...looks like hes told Valencia he wants out and RM is his next stop, if they decide to sign him. Also heard that RM have lined up 800mill in loans to sign Ribery, Villa and a few others:eek:.

Sorry but i dont think Villa will come to the Prem league...hes made it clear that he has no intentions of leaving Spain....dont blame him really.

WE need wingers, and a DM, we need defensive cover but Toure/Gallas is a great partnership, the goals we conceded after they were finally playing together were all like those against Liverpool, 4 arsenal players in the box against 6 Liverpool players, there is not a single defender for any price in the entire world that can mark 3 players at one time, though Sagna was horrible in that game and had a poor season compared to his first I'm hoping he gets back to that pre-injured first season form. We certainly need cover though as Djourou and Silvestre are jokes.

But wingers, Rosicky, isn't a winger, Theo sucks out wide, Arshavin is most dangerous in and around the box, Nasri looks better behind the strikers than wide. Arshavin can get around players on the wing, as Nasri, with trickery, but a flat out pace race neither of those two can win against the majority of defenders in the league. We have no natural wingers at the club, though its not a huge deal, its just getting to be a joke that we now have almost everyone in midfield who prefers to play Fabregas's role, (AMC is even Denilson natural position).

WE still play well but Arshavin and Nasri on the wings and we look weak against counter attacks as they just don't have that pace to track back quickly enough.

Thing is, we can't realistically buy "real" wingers because they we would have 6-7 player all vying for AMC or the withdrawn striker role which is ridiculous. But largely because of the defensive problems left with slow wingers, we HAVE to get a simply world class DM to help make up for it. We got ripped to shreds last year because our DM's are a joke and there was also little cover from the wings, we have to fix one of those and like I said, we can't afford to buy wingers and have so many players on the bench.

How we lost Diarra I don't know, he's the guy staying at Real Madrid with them wanting to ditch the other Diarra who isn't nearly as good. I have no idea who we can buy, even if ignoring cost, whose even available thats good enough?

Is it just me or anybody else, When ever drunkenmaster post, after reading a line or two you just get fed up with it? :o

:p

:( I hope there is nothing to this and he doesn't leave, will be a huge loss if he goes.

bloody agents

If the story is true then its because his missus doesnt want to go back to Merseyside (she is currently in Argentina). If thats the case then I can hardly blame him, got to put the family first.

To lose Mash is gona be a big loss to Liverpool. Oh well, Fighting for a Champions League 4th spot next season?

I heard that Messi has been in his ear telling him to come to Barca where they can hook up...if that happens then i think it will be very very close next yr with Barca and RM vying for La liga honours amongst other honours.

Msscherano is a decent player, have always rated him.

I pray to bloody god that RVP does not leave us, especially not for utd, please please :( I mean he's obviously a massive asset for us. Just look at his play this season, fantastic and that's not even him in good form really, just fit for the majority of the season. If he does leave though that will allow Eduardo to shine and he could quite possibly be compareable to Torres in terms of goals and quality.

Hope Barca don't go after Masch. He's a good player, but Yaya Toure brings so much more balance to their midfield. Also consider how short their midfield 3 would be if Masch was the holding player.

I agree, family always comes first but the thing is though the "Missus isn't settled line" is quite often dragged up as an excuse for the agent to tout the player around to all the big clubs :(

Drunkenmaster why do you hate Walcott so much? You are always complaining about him lol

He plays for Arsenal and England on the wing so he cant be that bad a player in that position. We all know its not his natural position but he is still developing.

It is, thats true. Thats why I say 'if' its true. I guess it would make sense for her to fit in better in a country with the same language. If he does need to move for her then at least we should get a hefty sum for him.

He's only just 20 also, absolutely hate all the negativity Walcott gets, he's still learning loads and will be for some time, considering his age I think he's excellent, there aren't many other 20 year olds that are better ..
