**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I'm a chelsea fan and would be very happy to see tevez sign for us. I don't believe he didn't stay because of wage demands - at the end of the day man u didn't treat him well. He consistently delivered and wasn't played enough by fergie who seems to love rooney a lot more for some reason I don't understand.

Perhaps you could post some stats showing him consistently delivering last season?

This must be the first time Fergie/Club have gone against the fans in not landing a player so idolised, unless you football historians can differ.

He's a legend in my eyes and I'll miss that dude! :(

He's offloaded popular players in the past.... Stam, RvN, Beckham, McGrath, Hughes, Kanchelskis, Taibi etc...

Tevez leaving is a great result for Utd IMO. His whining and antics towards the end of the season were a disgrace and his performances all season were mediocre. Yet even so, Utd DID try to keep him, they DID meet his and his agent's demands, and he still didn't stay. It would have been a monumental waste of £25m and thank god we dodged a bullet there. Maybe with Ronaldo and Tevez gone we can get some players in who there isn't a constant circus around, and who want to play for the club 100%.

Yes it would, but that's still irrelevant, because the £10m has already been spent. As mentioned you can't get that money back, so there is absolutely NO difference from buying Tevez for £25.5m or buying any other player for £25.5m. It just means that MU have a chance to get a 'bargain' (depending on what you value Tevez at) at a knock-down fee. That £10m was basically a loan-arrangement fee.

No it wasnt - it was always (baring in mind ALL the reports over the last two years )- it was always a downpayment over the final price paid if Utd bought him completely

Either they sell Tevez for £30m + to Man City and where expecting over £20m+ from Utd, or IF he goes for £25m+ according to the agreement, Utd should only have to pay £15m or so

latter would have been reasonable (I would still have been disappointed though) - the former would have been a rip off given his form and attitude this season

(no matter what the club made the best decision by letting him go)

I dont know how you reckon 'the club made the best decision by letting him go', my understanding was that Utd agreed to pay the £25.5m required but Tevez decided to walk.

Lyon's special adviser Bernard Lacombe concedes the club could lose Karim Benzema to Manchester United, if the Premier League champions make a big offer.

Benzema has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, with United set to lose Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez over the summer.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to improve his attacking options and has reportedly been a long-term admirer of France international Benzema.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also rumoured to be fans of the striker, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas hopeful of keeping Benzema for another season.

Aulas, however, admitted earlier this week that Lyon could still be powerless to prevent Benzema leaving Stade Gerland and it is a view echoed by his special adviser Lacombe.

"He is with us, but nobody knows what will happen," Lacombe told Progres.

"We didn't think Michael Essien would leave at the time, but when Chelsea arrived with the cheque...

"If United, who as we know have plenty of cash available, came and said we want to buy Benzema, what can you do? Not much."

Meanwhile, Lacombe confirmed Lyon's interest in Porto forward Lisandro Lopez, but denied being keen to sign veteran Spanish striker Fernando Morientes.

He added: "We are thinking of bringing in Lisandro Lopez , he is a quality player like Carlos Tevez.

"However we don't want Fernando Morientes. Five years ago we would have signed him without thinking, but not now."

First bit of transfer news for UTD fans to genuinely get excited about???

perhaps made the best decision by not aceeding to the conditions which would have been required for him to stay. be those; being the highest paid player, guaranteeing games etc.

they'll absolutely cane us for money and other clubs will be interested, but i do feel that now we know where we stand with regards our major outgoing we might start to see a bit of transfer action.

18 starts for United last season, didn't even start in the CL final, chirst go back to the goal he scored at Wigan, you was all having bum sexs over him.

Fact is he not worth £25+ but you are the best team in England and the 2nd best team in Europe so you are not going to get taken for a ride.

Kia Joorabchian today said:
''I think Carlos is not happy, he's a little bit sad,'' he said. ''He's had two years at club and enjoyed two great years. They've won two Premier League titles, one Champions League title, one Carling Cup in his time and he's quite sad.

''They didn't really give him any offers for two years. Over the duration of two years there was a lot of talk about signing him but we never actually got to the point of actually receiving any offers for him.

''The offer of Manchester United was a very good offer. It came about 10 days ago. It was the loan price of £9million plus the final option price of £25.5m. They made him a good contract but Carlos needed time.

''I want to make it very, very clear: we never ever at any time asked them for more money, or any kind of money - never at any point during the last two years.

''Even after they made their offer we never asked for more money. We never spoke about that. I think Carlos just felt over the last two years they hadn't made the effort to sign him and he needed a little bit of time.

''I think they were under a time restraint with all the situation that was going on and we couldn't get there in time.''

Tevez will now take some time to consider his options, with Joorabchian expecting a decision to be known by the first week in July.

And there will be no future issues with who owns the player's rights, with the next deal set to be a permanent one.

Joorabchian added: ''The Premier League have changed their rules now when you do make a transfer it has to be a permanent transfer. All his rights will be sold, all his economical rights will be sold and he will belong to the club that he will play for.

''Pre-season will start somewhere between 9 and 12 July. He will have to start wherever he starts by 11, 12 July.

''So, by the first week of July, there will be a decision made, a contract signed and a club announced.''

Nowt to do with money:)

Maybe as I said earlier he wasn't guaranteed to get the amount of games he wants, Man.U. will after all be bringing in another striker and he could've ended up being on the bench more than he wants to be:)

If he played better and scored more, maybe he would have gotten an earlier offer and more starts

He just didnt deserve it
