To you maybe, imo and by the looks of it quite a few people in this thread it is fine to suggest methods to remove the offending cat. They are only suggestions :)

Actually unless people are fairly retarded they'd struggle not to think that some people on here were genuinely thinking it was fine to kill other peoples pets.

It's odd on OCUK though, one swear word can get you a ban, but suggesting killing innocent animals is perfectly acceptable.

Of course all suggestions are made with sarcasm, or are they? There's already people in the UK who do kill animals for fun. I'm not talking about foxes here, I'm talking about deer, cats, dogs etc. It's not socially acceptable to a vast majority of the population and it's not something that should be on the OCUK forum. Bearing in mind that this forum is funded by a public company and this part of the forum is far from private, I actually see it as rather disrespectful to Spie and OCUK to post just cruel garbage on the forum.

The OPs question has been answered numerous times and even with some decent suggestions for how to scare the cat away. Time for the lock in my opinion.

I hate cats as well. Nothing seems to stop them pooing on the edges of my lawn at night. Pellets pepper sprays all failed.

Just shoot the cat and lay it by the side of a B road when you go to work in the morning, everyone will assume it was run over ;)

I hit one on the way to work last week. Dumb **** gave me no option despite me locking up. I looked in the mirror and saw the poor bugger have independant back leg movements. I felt really bad for a few minutes. :(

Wow, what a vile human being you are.

...but it's OK you see, it's posted on a family forum and therefore it's perfectly fine. It's just another showing of the erratic moderating that seems to have taken over these boards. :)

Stop whinging.
1 person has made a complaint about this thread, if every thread that had one complaint about it was closed there wouldn't be any left open.

What for accidentally killing a cat. I'd never do it on purpose and could never shoot vermin let alone a cat. If a car had been coming the other way I'd likely have caused an accident on instinct of trying to miss it.

As for putting it out of it's misery my options would have been to stamp on it's head or slit it's throat with my leatherman. I couldn't do either even if it hadn't dissapeared.

Forget about all of those 'organic' repellent ideas, pepper etc.

Go and get yourself an ultrasonic emitter from the garden centre - designed for keeping animals off your lawn/garden/veg patch etc.
The sound it too high for you to hear, but any cats or dogs who go near your garden will scarper due to the discomforting sound. The ones I have seen were motion activated, so they only go off when triggered by a likely target.
They do work; my mum's dogs couldn't stand to be any where near the thing, next-doors cat also.
Might cost you 20-30 quid, much cheaper than buying yourself a gun - even an airgun, which now has to be bought from a registered firearms dealer who will record your name, address and any other contact details that are pertinent. Chances are if you tell him you want it for shooting local cats, you'll end up with a visit from the old bill.

Don't even consider shooting it.

EDIT: farmers are only allowed to shoot dogs on their land if they are worrying their livestock, also they have to display signage to the effect of 'keep pets on leads etc dogs caught off the lead near livestock will be shot'

Thats a load of rubbish Mr B, cats do **** on lawns and it isn't a rare occurrence.

Nope, sorry you're wrong. As a rule, they don't. 99 times out of 100 it'll be fox. Because cats are predator/prey animals, cats will bury their poo (and wee) to prevent them from being tracked. Whereas dogs (predator only) will poo wherever they like and not bother to cover it up.

Aha! So it's a dog that poos on my extension roof

Is it possible to be a thug without actually carrying out an action?

In my opinion, yes.

A thug in Modern English means a violent and/or anti-social person

Your potential "solution" is, to most, extreme. It is clearly violent.

The fact you haven't carried it ok is one thing - but to even contemplate this action as a solution is barbaric.

Agreed as i mentioned early I bought 2 of these cat scarers, one for the front and back garden and they do work!

The pair cost me 30 quid well spent imo.

I mentioned this earlier on in the thread. They do work but if you have good hearing they can be very annoying.

Yes but thinking those thoughts is a lot different to carrying them out. I think some very naughty thoughts about my neighbours wife. That doesn't make me an adulterer. ;)

Who doesn't have violent thoughts from time to time on all manner of subjects. Theres a huge difference between carrying them out.

There's been times when my mrs has been bleating I've thought I'd love to knock her out. The reality is I'd rather die myself.

These cat threads always end up this way.

Anti social people are not thugs although thugs can be anit social, thugs are people who use violence not people who think it.

I didn't mention surfaces other than lawns. If a surface can be raked over, or looks as if it could be, then cats will use it. If it's a pitch roof, then looks as if it could be raked, so a cat will have a go.

Try reading posts first, it helps prevent oneself from looking idiotic.
