Have United signed Casillas?

They did the same thing before they announced the Berbatov transfer was completed.

id LOVE it if thats the case, but i doubt it. Unless something was built into the Ronaldo deal we dont know about. Hasnt it been rumoured all day?

United to make Real an offer they can't refuse for Casillas

Manchester United are ready to give back some of the £80 million they will revceive from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo for Spain goalkeeeper Iker Casillas.

Edwin van der Sar is 39 in October and Sir Alex Ferguson knows he must find a younger alternative for the Dutchman.
Apart from possibly Italy's Gigi Buffon, Casillas is rated the world's top goalkeeper by many observers though he has become a symbol of Real along with veteran forward Raul.
That would not deter Ferguson and despite a new era beginning at the Bernabeu with the arrival of Ronaldo and Kaka, the United manager hopes Casillas might be tempted by the challenge of playing for another one of European football's leading clubs.
New Real president Florentino Perez would be reluctant to lose Casillas but the goalkeeper could feel that he will become a bit part player among the new galacticos.

bit part player lol. so that's how they're going to fit them all in, Villa will be playing in goal apparently.

has someone been fiddling around with URL's again lol

It always happens in a window, something like this

Dont believe it for a minute (but I would love to have to eat my words)

Tevez was rubbish last season. Much rather see Macheda given more of a chance, or us take a risk on someone like Benzema.

If he played better and scored more, maybe he would have gotten an earlier offer and more starts

He just didnt deserve it

It's catch 22, maybe if he got more starts he would've played better and scored more.

Man.U. offered £25.5m for him, they think he deserved it, eventually.

He was dropped because he had stopped scoring

At the end of the day its not usually the transfer fee thats the bother - its the ongoing wages (rumoured £140,000 a week?) , or 28m over the rumoured 4 year contract, thats probably why Utd really wherent fighting tooth and nail to sign him

whatever the untrustworthy so and so kia is saying

Have United signed Casillas? .

How many times did you change the number at the end of the url to get someone well known ? haha

Most of the genuine first team are in the 900's - Casillas appears to be in the 4000's lol

so you can't rotate him out occasionally? he featured 51 times for united last season 34 of them starts. that's not really what i'd count as being frozen out. For instance if he went to City the maximum possible games he could play in would be 51 assuming the went all of the way in the cup competitions.

just looking on wikipedia for a quick comparison.

but Cantona never featured in more than 50games in one season
Beckham only featured in over 51games 1x
ditto van nistelrooy
Giggs has only done it 3x and one of those was 51 so equal to tevez.

you're at a top club, you get rotated, unless you're a ronaldo or a messi.

Maybe so, but as a supposedly world-class player he should be expected to be able to handle being dropped or rotated out of the starting lineup without it messing his head up. He had plenty of chances, and though he put in a lot of effort there wasn't a lot to show for it.

He played a LOT, he also played loads in his previous two seasons where both times he failed to be anything like a prolific striker. 35mil in total for a striker who can't score many goals, and scored half as much as your striker who cost 30mil is a bit much to take. Berbatov looks like he could score 10 more in a season as he was played as basically a lone striker most of the year which isn't his position. Tevez DOESN'T look like he could score more no matter the amount of games he got.

I just don't understand why City and Chelsea are willing to spend 35mil on him, the reputation from before he was in the league, and the fact that his owners have said he's worth 35mil seems to be whats making clubs think he's good. Its like with Ribery, because Bayern have simply said he's worth 50mil + everyone seems to simply go with it. How many did Berbatov score in his last two years before his 30 mil transfer, it certainly wasn't 5 the last year and no one would spend 30mil on him or anyone else if they only managed 5 goals. Its beyond ridiculous.

As a United fan I'm not massively worried about Ronaldo and Tevez, I think it might be a blessing in disguise now that we will have to play Rooney in his proper position! Could do with bringing in a proper winger though, no Ronaldo, and Giggs lost his legs understandably...

5 years and Man.U. were "disappoined" that they were informed he no longer wished to play for the club.
Which ever way you dress it up, Fergie wanted him and was prepared to pay serious money for him, I'd trust his judgement over most others.

But every game he'll play for Citeh will be the biggest ones that club is involved in. He started 18 times for you in the PL (probably the 'should win games') and the rest he started were just lesser cup games.
He obviously wants to be No.1 somewhere, that ain't so bad:)

Thats right now - things could easily change in a month or two.

From the club's point of view, there is no point bad mouthing the player, how ever good or bad the advice he is being given is seen (which has already been stated by Gill and SAF seperately)

No, however i'd have hoped that his reaction to being dropped early in the season would have been a little more impressive than it turned out. If he's the type of player who doesn't react well to being dropped and needs a run of games to find form then fair enough but when we're competing on all fronts unless you're truly exceptional then you're going to get dropped occasionally, it's then up to you to force your way back into the side. Ferguson is also the one who chose when to rotate him out of the squad and like you say I trust his judgment.

and just to be fair, at the end of last season i would have signed him up like a shot, january i would have liked us to sign him up, I thought the 25million was steep but until interviews started coming out in the press i'd still have taken him, because as fergie says 'fans love a tryer'

Tell me the advice you know as fact he's been given.

You're forgetting who he was competing against,.
Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov are pretty much going to be first choice at any club and it doesn't make you a bad player if they keep you out of the side.
Now Ronaldo's gone he'll be replaced by someone else, maybe that person is already common knowledge at Man.U's training ground and maybe Tevez thought "**** that, it's the bench for me again" and chose to play more somewhere else where they haven't got such quality up front.

Wigan sign a spainard that played with Bobby at Swansea, meh

I don't blame Tevez, he has been as good as Rooney in terms of goals in 2 years and he got **** on by Fergie, United have lost Tevez a player that can score goals and create them and cab handle the EPL and could lose Ronaldo, 2 big players to replace, cant see anyone coming through the ranks to do that job yet.

Tevez is brilliant, and when paired with Rooney up front, he was brilliant.

Buying Berbatov and shoe horning him into the side not only broke up the best attacking partnership we've had for a number of years, but has cost us the player all together. Had Fergie not spent all last summer chasing the dozy Bulgarian, then we would have signed Tevez then.
