**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Hardly surprising really, no-one else would be willing to pay the silly wages he's currently getting so staying at Chelsea is the only way he'll earn big money.
I can't see Chelsea wanting to honour their contract with him though.

Is he still on Chelseas books then??...thought they had shipped back to AC Milan or another team??. Shame really as he was immense when playing for AC Milan but soon as he came to Chelsea, he flopped big time.

Anyone actually know whats happened to the Frazier Campbell transfer to Hull?
Campbell himself has said he simply wants to get the Under-21's tournament out of the way first, but I think most people here accept the idea that he's using the cup to put himself in the shop window to anyone else that might be interested, and don't blame him all that much really.

Heard nothing about the Newcastle rumours though, and they sound pretty far fetched. He's far more likely to get international call-ups from a lower Prem side than he is a Championship one, no matter how big they are.

I think you're spot on in that respect.

Fraizer obviously thinks he has the potential and the ability to be with a team bigger/better than Hull and is looking at using the U21's almost as a stepping stone to launch him into the eyes of a few more clubs.

If he has a bad tournament he just signs the deal and Hull get a very good young talent.

Yeah, although he's probably a bit idolised up here (in fairness, he did more in his time here to get City into the Premiership than Windass), most people reckon he's worthy of a starting place in at least a less relegation-threatened club.

Who did we sign??...

As for the 60% stake at some club...sky news reporting that it will be known in the next few days. Also reporting that Sheva wants to honour his contract at Chelski...Karim Benzemas agent is saying that Man Utd will have to wait till after the World cup to get him...Tevez is off to Man City as reported earlier...Barca want to offer Eto a new contract..

So far thats all thats been reported on sky sports news...

Verm, sorry I haven't been on the PC all weekend.

About Benzema, they're probably hoping he has an awesome WC so they can charge £45m instead of £35m

Surely they havent got a choice - unless they offer him a lump sum and buy him off, or subsidise his wages somewhere else?

Exactly - although Vital Football are also reporting that KB's agent has said he will listen to any offer Man Utd make after he comes back from holiday

to be honest I think its a LONGGGG shot that Utd or anyone in England will sign him, this summer or next

He's been really good this tournament in my opinion. He comes off the bench and you can see he's giving 110% and making big problems for the defences he's playing against. A bit like Tevez, but it seems he can score too!

This Toon rumour seems strange though - a year in The Championship could ruin his career as easily as staying in the Premiership with a smaller club ( if not more so) imo

A young player like him I think is perfect for Hull, he is likely to start most games, get a lot of EPL experience and be idolised by the fans for coming back

Bigger clubs will probably have more choice, and hence more rotation

I don't think him being a 1st choice player at a top Championship side would ruin his career, he'd be playing against good opposition and will more than likely score a fair few goals.

The level of players in the Championship isn't that far behind the bottom five or six clubs in the Premiership. He'll do better in the Championship for a side that should win it next year and as a first team regular, than a side at the bottom of the Premiership when he'll spend most of his time chasing a ball around or watching his defence get ripped to shreds for 80 minutes at a time.

He needs to join a team that isn't going to be involved in a relegation battle in the Premiership next season. If he joins a bottom three side, he'll have issues scoring goals, he won't get the chances he needs and won't be able to play the football that his career needs right now.

I'm certainly not saying he's top 4 level but he would suit a mid-table or mid/lower-table side very nicely... and is definitely a future talent.

edit:

On the flip side it's crucial he doesn't sign with a top 4 club, or sign for a side where he'll only play a game or two next year. If he does a Steve Sidwell and signs with a big name club for big money when he knows he won't play at all... then that'll do more damage to his career than anything else right now.

Fancy explaining to me how City got Barry then?

Boooosh.

The reason there are so few transfers before the 1st of July is that nearly everywhere else (Italy, Spain, Scotland, France) opens their window then. Which is, I guess, why Ronaldo (and Kaka) hasn't been officially unveiled as a Madrid player yet.

Learn something new everyday.

I was under the impression that you could enter talks and agree fee's and what not, but officially it couldn't happen until the first of july.

You live and you learn.

That's the choices they have got, it's around £7m to buy his years contract out or let him go on loan, Roma are apparently interested for some reason:)

That would be truely awesome.

(Though who knows what Rosicky's going to be like when he returns, probably prefer Nasri on the right).

Edit- the hot sports babe of the week! :D

Lyon close agreeing terms with Porto for Lisandro Lopez. Does this mean the chance of Benzema leaving this summer are increased ?

Dont even suggest it - it will only end in tears (Utd fans and SAF's as RM break the bank -even more - and sign him as the 6th Galatico of the summer!!!)

Essien would be an incredible capture in nearly any team ( the only team who possibly dont need him are Barca, but even thats marginal), probably just his agent being a little hyper though

Certainly agree with that - I just think it would be best if he stayed in the EPL compared to a club thats nearly self distructing and FC has no idea who he will be playing with next season (at least with most clubs, the Management is relatively stable and they know who they are difinitely keeping when anyone transfers - with Toon I wouldnt think thats likely currently) - Completely understand your point of view though
