Reports have emerged from Anfield that Mascherano could be allowed to leave in a £25million switch.

And the Argentine midfielder said: "It is extremely flattering to be recognised by such big clubs.

"I feel comfortable in Liverpool, but always it is good to know that teams such as Barca or Madrid are interested in one. Personally, I am very grateful."

Mascherano told reporters in Spain he believes the Premier League is stronger than La Liga, but he rates Barcelona and Lionel Messi as the best team with the best player in the world.

He also revealed his old connections with new Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini and added: "He deserves the Madrid job.

Theres never been a question about him being happy, I thought it was his missus that is causing the papers to think he wants to move? Even though the whole thing is a load of cobblers eitherway
 
No disrepect to Liverpool - but Im still surprised he distances himself from a move to such a big and successful (in the present) club whehter Barca are interested or not
 
All he said was that he's happy here but it's flattering being linked with other top clubs. He's kept both options open.

He probably just wants a new contract anyway.
 
I'm guessing no more whining from Rafa next season about how everyone apart from poor Liverpool has so much money and that is why they can't win the title.

Couldn't see him staying at Newcastle after relegation.

He's not a top striker, he's the sort of player that will score a few goals playing for a top4 side but might struggle at lesser clubs. Worth having as a backup but he won't win us the league. Should have been sold a year ago after getting a good return and rumoured £25-30m interest from Milan. He's got a habit of scoring in big matches too which probably raises his profile more than it would otherwise.

Contrary to DM I think he doesn't have a 'pathetically poor touch', in fact I can't think of any player in the league with better chest control than him. I think the reason he gets a lot of games is due to his physique, Arsenal have looked a bit lightweight since Vieira left. Bendtner is the only other 'tall' forward but he doesn't have good enough touch to cope with balls played up to him.

Personally I'd like to see Toure tried out alongside Fabregas in midfield in preseason now that we've bought a new CB. I know he was pretty poor there 5-6 years ago when he first started getting games but he has matured a lot as a player and I think he could become a good foil for Fabregas. The likes of Denilson, Bischoff, Song etc don't really cut it, even if the latter was an improved player last season.
 
I dont think Adebayor is going to go down as a premiership great, they certainly wont be creating online petitions to have his shirt retired when he leaves.
