**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

What are you talking about? I'm fed up with his attitude, not his footballing ability. Barca didn't know how good he was, they didn't really care. If they paid attention for any amount of time they would have known he was about to turn into a world class player and would not have sold him, they obviously didn't care too much about him.

He was too young to be on a professional contract.

Barcelona are like United, they make stars not buy them. Bar Henry who was already established at Arsenal how many others in that Barcelona team were established to the way they are now? The majority were brought through their ranks and those that weren't i.e. Eto'o were made into the players they are today.

Despite Barca being the better team and the more likeable club Madrid will always have the edge on them when buying players hence why there was only one club in Spain for Ronaldo and hence why both Villa and Ribery will be going there as opposed to going to Barcelona.

Same will be the case with Fabregas when he goes.

But wasn't Eto'o a brilliant player before he went there? Top goalscorer in Spain while playing for Real Mallorca?

He's BETTER than both INiesta and Xavi and has shown how much more effective than both of them he is at the highest level of competition.

No.

Fabby can't get in to the Spain national side, because of these two.
Fabby was very very very poor / quiet against Manchester United, Iniesta / Xavi ran the midfield.

He was too young for Barca, thats why he went to Arsenal. He'll go back to Barcelona one day :)

He was only at Mallorca on load from Real Madrid, Barca ended up buying him from Real. Although Eto'o clearly had something about him at Mallorca hence why Barca bought him he certainly wasn't at the level he was/is now

Madrid have bought Raul Albiol apparently, about time they had a look at their defence. Pepe has to go for his antics a few months ago, surely!

Yawn. Cesc answers questions in interview straight, says he is disappointed by our lack of trophies. Who isn't? Big deal.

Wes Brown, John O'Shea and Darren Fletcher are not the stars in your team.

So who are these stars that ManU are bringing thro the ranks lately? They might have done it ten years ago lol

They have bought all their stars lately.

Actually they are. They'll always do what is needed of them and you'll never see them moaning to the press that they aren't playing every match. Players like that are needed in every team.

That doesnt make them "STAR" players, that makes them good TEAM players.

Evans? Welbeck? Macheda? Gibson? All have played a part last season and will probably play a part this season.

Still they're far from being stars, I'd call some of Arsenal's youngsters bigger stars/prospects than all of those (Vela/Wilshere/Gibbs) etc. and they're no where near being called stars.

Edit - My bad, Evans looks pretty awesome.

Since when did making stars only mean them coming through your youth system?

Ronaldo, Carrick, Anderson, Nani - none of these would have been considered to be world stars when we bought any of them yet Ronaldo is now the worlds best player and has fetched 80 million. That's what is the difference between UTD/Barcelona and Real Madrid

You consider Carrick, Anderson and Nani world stars!?!?

You could say the same with Real - Ramos/Raul/Casillas/Guti all established themselves as great players at Real

Er, wow. Don't really know what to say to this. Post of the year for all the wrong reasons.

Not exactly stars are they though? Maybe in a few years time, but certainly not now. Last season your stars were:
Ronaldo, £12m; Rooney, £26mil; Vidic, £7m; Ferdinand, £28m. The only home grown star was Giggs, and he came through in the golden crop of ~10 years ago.

With regard to Fabregas, all he's said is that he wants to win trophies; who doesn't? If I were as good as him I'd get somewhat fed up with Arsenal's bizarre transfer policy and lack of progress over the las couple of years.
