And for the gazillionth time by that I did not mean United and Barcelona bring all their stars through the ranks simply that the sign players with potential and turn them into stars
As for Ronaldo I know what has been claimed but regardless of that 99% of English football watching fans had never heard of Cristiano Ronaldo before we signed him despite what they may say
There's been numerous amounts of quotes attributed to him saying as much yes, whether they're gospel of course is another matter

if nothing else we (Man Utd) give a player profile.
not many players are on the front cover of computer games BEFORE we sign them, but then they may be afterwards..
they may have talent before we buy them but their profile will be lower.
for instance, is Klaas in the media much? if he signed for Man Utd his media stock would rocket. its just being associated with a much bigger team..in a much bigger league...
also, can i just say, another attacking playmaker is the LAST thing we need... what with Rooney, Berbatov both being playmakers rather than prolific talismen up front...

We (Liverpool) and you lot offered around £6mill, Utd came in and offered double as you mention. There were reports with quotes that he wanted to come to us and was talking up a move etc before Utd came in.
Wenger may have, certainly dont remember Ronaldo doing so though. If I'm honest I dont remember Wenger doing so either.

if you think that we do not add profile to the players we sign:/
obviously i am not talking about signing the worlds best player here, but just youngsters in general...
the profile comes from playing in a lot of big events, such as the EPL, CL, FA cup etc...vs good opposition...
for example, was rooney on the front cover of boxes when he was at Everton? not so much...(fifa07)
like how u see Giggs on game boxart... but not stuart downing? or amir Zaki
another one, say we had signed Santa Cruz from blackburn and he had a good season for us.. theres a chance he would make boxart...but playing for blackburn?

I think it's a good signing for Liverpool, expensive though.
I'd be happy to see Benzema at Manchester United, He's a good prospect.
Manchester United, also have a good crop of young players coming through, looking forward to seeing them over the next year.
Closer to £17m and no doubt with a few £m of that being add-ons. Still too expensive though but with Arbeloa likely to be leaving we need a rb and we need some more English players for our CL squad.
