Royal Mail Postmen

To make your round even easier don't bother taking parcels round, just have a bunch of those "While you were out..." cards pre-filled in so you can sneak up to their letterbox and slip it through!

Just read on the royal mail site that full time postmen/postwomen will earn around £256 a week ?

Thats rather shocking, iirc around here it used to be a lot more as people were leaving other jobs to become postal workers. I guess things have changed.

A Q for the postal people on here, are you allowed to hold mail so you deliver 2 or 3 days worth of post to homes on the round instead of going there each day? it's just that some weeks we get no post for days at a time and wondered if they were holding it then bringing the whole lot at once.

Honestly, what do you think the answer to that question is?

Given the general lack of trust in posties I would say it's a semi legitimate question.

Aye it's not really fooling anybody. Got chatting to the neighbours about it and we all only ever recieve a bundle of mail every few days (on the same day), irrespective of what stamps etc., are on them.

your either imagining it or you dont get much mail and when you do its all bills etc around the same time

for the tiny gain it might give a postman its not worth risking your job for which you would be

if you want to be sure then the obvious way is to post yourself some mail

You can roll eyes Jeff, but I'm afraid postie is always going to be a hard sell due to the actions of a few; my old postie had a habit of leaving parcels around my front garden if they wouldn't fit through the box. I'd find them a few days later after they had been rained on, which was nice.

but then you will get other people moaning that they had to pick them up from the post office and ''why couldnt they leave em round the back/down the side/nextdoor''

postmen cant win. even more so when they have to change rounds all the time so never get to know what the people want

if you dont say anything to the postman or delivery office then how are they meant to know. he probably thinks hes doing you a favor everytime he does it if you dont say ought. only tskrd s quick phonecall and from experience they nearly always help you as much as they can
