I had a couple of teething problems with the MS but nothing that would stop me recommending one.

The support available on miataturbo is a god send and any problem I've came across they've been able to help me out with. Just don't ask too many stupid questions there. They are notoriously snippy with people who don't search etc.

I bought an Innovate wideband LC1 and hooked it up to the MS and tuned it myself. It's pretty simple once you get your head around everything.

Are you thinking about going turbo? I ran the MS for about a couple of months when I was normally aspirated and it helped me learn before slapping in bigger injectors etc.

12.9 is the same sort of time 630bhp supercharged VXR8s are putting down

respect.

and as merlin has said. I for one belived you, and said to get some dynolicious times to proove people wrong. This is just as good. Will certainly shut everybody up :D

OP - well done, quick times, very quick - frankly I'd have posted the exact same thread after people pi**ed on your bonfire unnecessarily.

Eat that for a quick terminal time too - jesus that thing must absolutely fly.

That is quite impressive, I assume that's on normal gearing, and why the performance is so good for it's power!

I remember going -2 teeth on the rear sprocket of my GSXR1000 which transformed it into a total animal, it topped out at only 150-ish, but holy-moly why they don't gear the standard bikes like this I just don't know!

Nice you have the 'stats' to back it up though!

doing -2 on rear would make it faster and +2 would not drop the top speed by 30-40mph .. +2 gives a decent acceleration boost though ..but only drops a few mph of yer top end

Persil

I think you mean -2 on the front sprocket :p

Yeah, only problem is insurance with me being 21. I bet you got better mpg with MS on it when NA. You using RX7 injectors now?

I noticed it was immediately quicker when I went to MS, even with the base map. I think the MAF delete helped a lot. I tried to find injectors from other cars but when I thought about the hassle of sending them off to get flow tested etc I decided to go with RC Engineering 550's instead. It should at least give me a bit of headroom for when I get the GT28RS. Hopefully I won't need to replace them if I'm at ~300hp.

I'm with Keith Michaels insurance broker and found them very competitive. I was banned on an SP30 (130 mph - the less said about that the better) and they were still able to provide cover for £600. I've declared everything as well which is good for peace of mind.

550cc injectors should be ~80% duty cycle at 300bhp so should be ok, but as you will probably know anyway, can just fit an FMU.

interesting

scooby forum owners have had a right whinge when they've come to keith michaels for other makes and got uncompetitive quotes

the answer has always been the same - they're only competitive for subaru insurance.Interesting to hear thats not always the case.

Yup it feels pretty quick although I'm used to it now. Bigger turbo, water injection and R888's and I'm going to shoot for low 12s and dare I say it - late 11's.

Impressive times :)

Looking at your 60ft times I'd say a nice set of R888's will see you under 2 seconds without any problems. I was hitting 2.2's in a 2 litre Corsa so you should sail into the sub 2's.

Thought about Nitrous?

I've never really thought seriously about nitrous. To me it seems like cheating a bit. I suppose a 25-50hp shot might give a nice boost. With so many other things to do first I'll leave it just now.

I've got a spare engine to build up. There are guys running 500whp on built miata engines in the states, but obviously there is big money involed and not on my shoestring budget!

who are you ? captain loon in disguise :D

I prefer Major Loon lol.

Current setup with a healthy shot of Nitrous through a controller should have it in the early 12's if not the high 11's, with some practice.

Cheaper than a bigger turbo/water injection, leaves the car as is to drive but gives the extra power on the strip/track.

win win and more win.

If Nitrous can do this to my mates Corsa just think what it can do for you :)

Quick little pocket rocket you have there, never doubted it either. As I said previously over 1/4 mile however and the big boys would start to haul you in but for the job at hand ideal and quick!

Just about to buy and MX5 myself funnily enough.
