**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Sheffield Wednesday have offered a trial to midfielder Ryan France, following his release by Hull City.

The 28-year-old, who was born in the Steel City, will train with the Owls in the hope of gaining a contract.
"Ryan is one of two players we will be taking a look at, but I won't say who the other one is," Owls boss Brian Laws told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"I've followed Ryan for a while and I like the fact that he can play in a number of positions."

Cool, we are short of midfielders ( well players in general ) I've not heard much about this guy, don't suppose anyone else has either ?

Looking forward to maybe seeing him in action if all works out, and maybe hearing about how he's getting on with training with us.

Cool.

Not that anyone else cares about Sheffield Wednesday, I do though :)

Well, I've never heard of him. But let's hope he turns out to be terrible. :p

Were fairly short on midfielders, so I have a funny feeling as long as he can kick a ball he will get a game.

At points last season, we were so short on players our bench couldn't be full, and I often felt like bringing my boots because I could have played :p

Sheffield Wednesday, are doing exceptionally well, were a mid table side in the League (well they all are really, thats why there have being very few stand out teams ) on our budget and with our debt we should be going the same way Leeds went.

Proves that our players are actually a lot better then they're given credit for and that our manager knows what he's doing.

Mark Beevers will play for England one day ;)

When will Glen Johnson get unveiled, anybody know?

Too much lower league football talk scare you eyy ? :p

*must get back to the important transfers*

I'm surprised he's not being unveiled so far, Rocky is being shown off tomorrow at Manchester City isn't he ?

Can't be long before they show Johnson off, maybe next week ? or maybe they're waiting to see if they're brining anyone else in, and can do them all at the same time ?

I wanted Brian Laws (At SUFC) so yes, you have a quality manager. If we had him for the past 2 seasons, we would have been in the premier league IMO. Very good manager.

He's too defensive at times, He plays to avoid losing, not to win more often than not.

I'd like to see us go for teams at home a lot more, we are fantastic at home, but I'm more then happy to settle for what he's doing.

He is a very good manager, I think he's one of the better managers in the league, we have no money, and our players are very young, aged 20-25 in most cases, and he really is starting to get the best out of a few of them, for example Tommy Spurr, who has come on leaps and bounds, Mark Beevers, at 18 is such a massive talent in English football it's unbelievable.

I really hope he stays, I'd be happy with him for a very long time. He's also great fun to sit near, as he comes out with some cracking one liners and more often than not talks to us sat near him.

Better than the talking egg we have then (Blackwell) really don't like him, such bad use of certain players, etc.. Earlier in the season he was playing Sharp on the wing, and wondering why a Poaching striker couldn't hack it there!

EDIT: Nice one on Valencia, very good signing.

we don't need anyone else, he'll be able to do the job of Ronaldo and Tevez next season.

Replace two goal scorers with one who hasn't scored even 10 goals in 3 years in the Premiership?

Fair enough replace Ronaldo with Valencia from a positional sense but we cant go into next season with Valencia as the only signing and expect to challenge on both Premiership and Champions League fronts

Surely you'd want another striker or something?

We need a third striker, Macheda is years off being World Class (if he'll be that good) and Wellbeck is nowhere near what's needed yet.

Losing Ronaldo's goal scoring presence over the last two seasons will be a big hit if we don't get someone (or a group of players) that can score a fair few goals.

We need a good left winger to replace Giggs, but we've got Nani (despite him really being a RW) and Zoran Tosic will be playing a bit more next season.

I'd also like to think we're looking at a good right back as well, Neville is beyond it now (surely!) and I've never been overly fond of Wes Brown but he does the job when needed I guess.

Lots of talk about Van Der Super Sar hanging up his boots by the end of the season, so we need to assess this correctly. Do we wager on Foster being good enough to be our new number one (I hope so), do we replace Kuszczak and get a better seconds keeper behind Foster?

A fair about of speculation about our keepers actually, Van Der Sar leaving after this season, Foster supposedly wants first team football now and so does Kuszczak.
