**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

United will really struggle this season if they have to rely on Wellback, Macheda and Campbell.

I see nothing special in any of them :/

Don't you dare criticise the undeniable talent and world class players in the waiting in Macheda and Welbeck. Don't you dare.

/serious mode

Manchester United need another striker, they can't continue to play two unproven and players that have yet to convince me. Campbell, has being nothing special in his games that I've seen.

Just watched a moth get pwnd by my fan on my computer.
:(

Going to have to clean it in the morning :(

Maybe you've just misconscrewed him?

No.

No I don't think we did. I think Drunkenmaster needs to watch more "world" football, and take his Arsenal tinted glasses off.

Cesc is not the best player in the world, or in his position in the world /end.

It is very simple.

I dont think Fab will be off this year but we all know that he wants to return to spain at some time in the future. We have him tied (in the loosest terms with todays contracts) to a long term deal and hopefully the prices go crazy again next year lol.

If we have a season of frustration then he will leave next summer. This summer I would be very surprised as he has only just been made the Captain and this will be his first full year. If we do well i can see him staying another two or three, but then he will be off back to Barca or RM.

Would be nice if he stayed but life goes on.

Campbell is in the process of being sold to Hull for £6m or there abouts

Macheda is going to be a great player - but no way is he ready to be a starter in a season's worth of games, he needs a season or so of being a sub and just getting experience under him before his talent will really shine

Welbeck is an ok player, but I dont think anything special - although SAF is convinced he should play a huge part in the WC next summer

Im sure SAF will get another striker, as to who Im not sure

Newcastle's players returned to work on Wednesday as the club prepares for life in the Championship.

Martins is apparently now on £65,000 a week, after earning a £5,000-a-week pay rise under the terms of his contract.

I doubt we'll get Pato and if we sign Pirlo the club have learnt absolutely nothing from their previous mistakes involving ageing has beens.

I was thinking the same thing too for Man Utd.

As well as the trouble for Liverpool of replacing Alonso and Masch if todays rumours are to be believed.

To be honest, other than being mildly annoyed at the tardiness of our transfer dealings (again) the fact we have missed out on Benzema and (hopefully) Ribery, isnt bothering me at all.
What is bothering me, is they appear to be all that we were interested in and no other options appear to on the table at the moment.

lol??

Your club gets relegated, you get a pay rise because of it... and you still turn up late to the first day of training... what a spanner!

Iniesta had a great year, but I think Fabregas could be better than him in his peak, obviously Iniesta has 3 or 4 years of playing/experience on Fabregas, and he's playing in this Barcelona team, so he's going to be better right now. I think Fabregas has the ability to be as good/better though in the future!

Once again a tad harsh Mr atpbx. Utd used to get criticised for doing a lot of their deals in public and ultimately driving the price up and us paying an over inflated fee. Now we say nothing until a concrete bid is in place or the player has signed.

Although it's frustrating that our activity seems pedestrian, i'd much prefer the latter under Gill than the former under Martin Edwards or Peter Kenyon. Also if Benzema & Ribery were legitimate targets, do you really think that Fergie would be as naive to have just them players in his sights. They are marquee players and as we have seen the big clubs are interested in signing them.

It wouldn't suprise me one bit if a deal is put in place that would see Huntelaar and one from Robben/Van Der Vart or Sneijder join us. The fans only to hear about it once the deal has been agreed and the players are doing their medical

Dont worry Man United fans, Fergie has back up plans should Benzema definitely go to RM:
Interesting line in The Guardian with regards Michael Owen. They reckon Manchester United are monitoring his situation carefully as they believe they could land the free agent on wages worth a piffling £40,000-a-week. With Karim Benzema off to Real Madrid and a lack of genuine alternatives, could Sir Alex turn to a player he was known to be keen on earlier in his career?

It'd be nice for a deal between Man Utd and Real to be a secret for a change :p
