Correct, actually. Never thought he was worth more than £7m at the time.

It's when you start thinking "well, if they bought him for this much, then he must be worth more or the same" that the transfer fees start getting out of hand.

Spot on my friend.

Paying anything more then £10 million for Johnson is laughable, He's nothing special defensively, which is his first job on the pitch, he is better going forward, because he couldn't get much worse. He's good, just above average.

Mash is worth about £15 million pounds, just because Real bought Kaka for 60 and Ronaldo for 80 million, doesn't add 10 million to other players.

£17 million is a lot of money, Mash is a good player in his position, he's had a couple of good seasons.

How? Unfortunatley is where football is at now. Its a progression. Dont get me wrong, its madness some of the figures flying about for players but the exact same thing was said when Trevor Francis was sold.

As for Mascherano, one of the best players in that postion on the planet. £17m won't even come close to snatching him away from Liverpool!

We don't see eye to eye on football at all.
 
Mascherano is worth no more that £15-20m in my eyes. Bigger teams may be willing to tempt Liverpool to let him go by paying more, but as a player, I don't think he's worth paying more than that.

Try doubling the £15m and add another 10 over say 3/4 seasons based on apps/comps won etc etc

Because Mash players for Liverpool, and you like him, and Liverpool like him, "he's the best player in his position in the world" as Drunken would say. I suppose no amount of money can come close to how much you think he's worth ?

Mash is a good player. I don't see how / why you'd pay more then £16/17 million for him.
 
A player is only worth what a buying club is willing to pay.

Glen Johnson is worth £17-18M because Liverpool paid it, doesn't matter what your opinions of the player are.

That maybe what he's 'worth' but i'd be shocked if we would accept that. We don't need to sell so there's no reason why we'd sell one of our most important players unless we got a crazy offer, especially with the possibility of Alonso leaving.

I'm not even going to argue, there's just no point.
