Sorry if you don't agree with me again, I see a pattern here. I don't rate Mikel.
You see I see that the other way round
I see Essien as much more "comfortable" when he's playing a little deeper, and I've always felt he looked a little unnatural or awkward playing in the final third. Mikel, sorry but is a very very average player in my eyes.
I agree he's not in the Claude role, but I think he's defiantly a better defensive mid then he is attacking.
I didn't say where i think he's best. I simply said that he's very rarely played as a defensive midfielder.
He didn't do it at Lyon and since joining Chelsea he's had Makelele, Mikel or Ballack sitting behind him.
Makelele was a brilliant defensive mid, he's playing in the french league at the moment isn't he ? forgot which team.
Mikel, is ****.
Ballack, is a good player, maybe a bit past it, but still a good player.
I look at Essien as a defensive midfielder.

Nope, I don't care that we don't agree on things. Makes for better convo then touching each other over how amazing Macheda and Welbeck are

Its just the position he's played for AC has been gradually pushed further upfield. I do realise if you to sign him, he would be signed first and foremost as a DM.
