Will You Buy Windows 7???

I'm going to remote desktop to Burnsy's computer and use it via proxy when he's not looking.

There is a very big chance that I will be buying the retail version when it is out. It would be a nice bonus if Microsoft was to offer a 2 user license with the retail copies, then I definitely will be buying.

A 2 user license will make a lot of sense, nearly everyone I know has at least 1 laptop aswell as their PC.

Keep dreaming ;)

It looks like that dream might turn to reality

If I have a job by then and can get professional (I want the XP visualization) i think I will be ordering a copy :D

yes I will be £200 is a small price for retail consideirng how much vista was retail

Yep, I'll grab a couple of copies with the pre-order offer coming up. Then when it's released in October, I'll get my first ever SSD as an OS drive, which will hopefully ease my upgraditis for another 6 months.

Seriously, some of you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill with regards to the lack of browser. Especially you Dolph.

The solutions as far as I can see are

Download browser of choice.

1. Save to USB stick
2. Save to seperate partition, drive, etc
3. Slipstream a browser into the Win7 disc
4. Reburn the Win7 ISO so that includes the browser.

Hardly a challenge for people who are able to build their machines component by component is it?

I am in do doubt that PC's from D*** or P*-**** or any other large OEM manufacturer will come with a browser, as the OEM will provide one. And this is the real reason why the EU did what they did. Previously an OEM could not offer a PC WITHOUT IE. They claimed it was NOT POSSIBLE. They got fined, and suddenly it is possible. yeah, go figure. Just like it was not possible to provide protocols for interoperability. (They didn't have the paperwork apparently, there were no 'hidden' API's, ah please...)

For people such as us, it is no major problem. People such as Dolph and other xenophobes twist the facts of the case and make out that Win7 without IE included is as hard for them as digging a 15 foot deep ditch for 12 miles in 40 degree heat. It's utter tosh.

For the OEM's they can now include whatever browser they like without being forced to have IE8 on there.

And if this means the average consumer never associates the Internet with the blue E again then I will rejoice in the streets. If putting a browser on a USB stick Dolph is too hard for you then tough. Internet Explorer has caused me more problems in my line of work then filling a million USB sticks with an alternative browser. I will be glad to see the back of it.

I got firefox on back up should work, I hate IE

So do I. It was microsofts way of trying to wrestle a completely interoperable system (TCP/IP/HTML/CSS) into a proprietry lock in.

ActiveX completely backfired on them.

Thank goodness for firefox. Can you imagine how long it would have taken them to actually adhere to CSS 2.1 without external pressure. Not to mention slooooow java parsing, lack of tabs, crashing browsers, etc.

The American government may be in Microsoft pocket, but I guess they didn't hand over enough blood money to the European Union to keep them quiet. (Remember, this is the same as the Netscape Saga that MS escaped...) This is twice they have been found guilty of the same issue.

That's not the point, why should I have to and how do I do if if I have to go solve a mates problem. suppose I'll always have to take a copy with me, rtaher than just popping a disk in. The ruling is not needed or wanted.
