^^ Why would we want to go back to a 4-4-2? Name a deadlier partnership in world football than Gerrard and Torres.

Just read the interview Owen gave yesterday and I wasn't surprised to see England mentioned time and time again. Honestly don't think he'll give a stuff how well he does at United as long as he gets back in the England team.

Well, we could still use that partnership with a diamond, except instead of providing for torres, gerrard would now be providing for 2 strikers.

Still only coming for the money though - £150k a week is a horrendous amount, what would he expect in the 2nd or 3rd year of the deal - £180k, £200k?

I also cant see SAF buying a seasoned striker either, without severely annoying Rooney - by forcing him out wide. Potential for Huntelaar I guess on the cheap, in rotation with Owen, but even that is unlikely I think.

Still think we should flog Nani, and get a traditional winger - more importantly though a holding midfielder and a left back to really challange Evra. Fabio will be great in a few years time Im sure but we need a proper left back to challange for the big matches and CL games - its been suggested earlier to push Evra upto the wing position and buy 1st choice full left back which would probably work very well indeed, I just think that its a few years too late - if PE was 20 or so it would be very possible, but he is what 28? I cant see it myself.

Best case scenario is we keep Alonso and Mascherano (both have 3 years left on their contracts and Rafa seems determined to keep them) and swap Riera for Robben and Arbeloa for Nedgredo.

Worst case is well sell all of them and the Americans take the money to pay off the loans and we end up with no players and no money
