**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Best case scenario is we keep Alonso and Mascherano (both have 3 years left on their contracts and Rafa seems determined to keep them) and swap Riera for Robben and Arbeloa for Nedgredo.

Worst case is well sell all of them and the Americans take the money to pay off the loans and we end up with no players and no money :(

If we sell all of them I'll officially turn a bluenose in disgust, and trust me, I hate the bitters :p

I can see Alonso going as the new era kicks off at Real but what will they do with Diarra then?

Mascherano is an Argie mercenary, you get no loyalty off Argies :/

They will keep Diarra for the bench knowing Real :p

Spot on about those 'Argies!

Ain't that the truth. If a player wants to leave us fair enough, but don't proceed to badmouth us after. At least Ronnie has shown a bit more class and respuct towards Fergie and the club. He acknowledges what they did for him. He'll be welcome back whenever we play Real and should get a big round of applause at OT. Former players who show respect will get it back in spades.

I must say...if Real are in for one of our players, I really wouldnt mind Sneijder in exchange. Always rated him.

Sneijder is great, I fell in love (well not literally!) in that Euro2004 playoff game against Scotland. Great deadballs and can smack the ball incredibly hard. Was obvious he would end up at a big club. Haven't seen much of him in recent years though to be fair.

I said this the other day; Masch and Alonso will only be allowed to leave if we get huge offers. Barca can't afford to and don't have a history of spending way ott on players and i also suspect Masch just wants a new deal. As for Alonso, it's been reported that it's not Perez that wants him but Valdano which is why they've not yet been willing to make a crazy offer and are trying to be 'realistic' with their offers. Fortunately I can't see Alonso pushing for a move and with him still having 3 years left on his deal the ball is firmly in our court.

Clearly you can't rule out Real making us an offer we can't refuse but even if they do, I am pretty certain that the money will be give to Rafa and that we'll be able to improve the team as a whole.

As for Riera and Arbeloa; Arby's gone, it's just a matter of how much we can get for him and although we'd rather keep Riera, I suspect we'll listen to decent offers for him (especially with Dossena less likely to leave due to Aurelio's reported injury).

Same, I'd love to see him at United.

Did I read somewhere that Sneijder has a bad injury record over the last year or two? Might have imagined it but thought he had been out for a good portion 07/08 or 08/09 - would hate to get him then find he is another OH

Barca paid just under £30m for Alves at the start of last season so I'm sure they'll bid a similar amount for Mascherano. I can't see Benitez turning down an offer close to £30m.

hopefully :D

I don't like John Terry. I think he's a good center back. I don't like him though. Irrational hate.

I have no idea if Terry would go, I think Terry would be motivated by the money. It is a ridiculous amount of money for him, and in some way, too good to turn down.

I on the other hand, like to think Terry values Chelsea, and his constant improvement as a player, which he wouldn't get at Manchester City, due in part to their lack of European challenge.

He was only a hairs breadth away from joining the Arse, so dont be under the impression that he is some died in the wool chelsea die hard.
