best/most popular current FPS game?

how about america's army 3, played 2.8/2.9 but haven't tried 3 personally yet but i hear they got rid of crappy skill-less bunny hopping and improved visuals quite a lot, there are usually a lot of people online as well so finding games isn't hard and it can be quite competative ;)

Most popular and the easiest is cod4, there's no recoil on the guns, there are red dots all over the radar (play hardcore but one shot in the foot is too easy) and grenade indicators. You can also turn the flash indicator in via a config.

CSS is far superior in terms of skill but i just don't like it, the engine is horrid imo.

Any questions about CoD4 ask me, got like 1300 hours on it lol. Been to LAN, played the top game, earned prize money. Blahhhhhhh its a AWESOME game for the first few months after that you hate it :)

im not actually looking to plan clan games, i dont have the time and im way past that. but id like ot be able to go on a server and not get constantly killed by lucky shots so 1-shot headshot kills would probably p me off.

In tf2 ill go on a server and if im there from the start (and most of the time when i join halfway through!) ill still end up top across both teams 95% of the time except the odd occasion theres a half decent sniper......but all i get killed by 90% of the time is random crits or stupidly overpowered classes, apart from that id run rampant all over them like i could in the old TF, because they are all useless.... and thats the point, i want to be able to wipe the floor with useless people without getting killed by dumb netcode, bad class balance or stupid random shots.

cs would drive me mad with the 1 shot kills. RTCW on the other hand was somehow different and 1 shot didnt work, and THAT I liked! infact I liked it so much I got banned from jolt for "cheating" despite the fact that no cheats existed at the time!!
 
Popular games that i can think off my head atm.

CSS, BF2,COD4, L4D/TF2, ARMA 2 probably some other good' uns.

Have to say i have had a long break from BF2 and played it for about 5 hours straight with a mate online and have to say it was great.

CSS is good but only can play short bursts of the game. Same with TF2.
L4D is great but only when you playing with some friends for me.
COD4 was ok, lasted for a few days went back to bf2.
 
Cod4?

Ut2004 still has some regulary used servers with same people, Nachos and Beer Assault server is the best by me.

Crysis Wars aint too bad.
 
I used to be a big BF2/mods/2142 player and clan member. The endless patches and crashes just spoilt it for me in the end.
Getting little urges to revisit though and I suspect the experience still is'nt matched online.
Currently with my mind in neutral and thumb up bum CoD 4 and WaW MP have to be worth a go.
Very slick. Lots of servers and games and just all out carnage.
The persisent ranking and weapons upgrade give it that little extra over predacessors.
Choose accordingly to your taste. Modern or WW2. I prefer WaW. The extra gore and violence + comic voice overs keep my simple mind happy.

Good games marked in bold (imo of course).

All the counter strikes are meh and headshot mania :(.
DoD felt wrong after being used to Mohaa, want arcady: play mohaa/cod, want realism, play Red orchestra...
Garry's mod, not my cup of tea, but I can see why people love it.
FM2k9, not my thing.
Warhammer I can't comment on.
HL2:DM bit rubbish imo, unbalanced, normal weapons should do more damage imho.
AA3- didn't give it a serious blast yet so can't comment.
