**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Looks like if we sign a striker Zamora is off to Hull, but apparently Kamara is 'missing' and not on our pre-season tour to Australia, lol. Apparently we're in for Mattock too.

RvP is a luxury player on your squad, has oodles of ability but you never get a full season out of him and he's not a reliable goal scorer - he is also not the successor to Bergkamp no matter what the tards on the bbc forum like to think as he isn't really a great playmaker either.

It wouldn't have bothered me if he were to go tbh, but alas lets hope this will be his first injury free season (yeh right ;)).

I can't seem to remember him having too many injuries last season? He is the closest Arsenal are going to get to a Bergkamp replacement, and he is a damn good player, so can't really complain about that.

Man Utd fans, congratulations on your Bellion replacement. :D

He played pretty much most of last season (played in 28 league games), 7th most at the club and was suspended for a few of those.

isn't really a great playmaker, lol, utterly ridiculous. Other than being our best player all year, and playing a significant part in most goals while he's on the pitch, no, not a playmaker at all.

overall 50 starts, 30 goals, 14 assists, in the league it was 24 starts, 11 goals, 10 assists. Sure sounds like he's a playmaker to me with 10 assists in 24 starts. 50 starts and 10 sub appearances also to me sounds like a very full season. Not starting in the league had more to do with suspensions, resting after internationals, playing a lone striker setup all too often which obviously isn't his strength and being careful to not let him end up playing 80 games in his first uninjured year.

Spurs was probably the best performance of the year, involved massively in everything, absolutely every attack went through him. He scored or assisted all the goals, and the team fell apart the very single second he was subbed.

Nonsense. He pretty much single-handedly stepped up to that role when Cesc was out injured early last season. Without him, we'd have been almost devoid of creativity in the pre-Arshavin first half of said season. The only reason we don't rely on him more to craft play is that we use the midfield to do that most of the time.

Uh-oh I'm agreeing with DM.

I agree to an extent that he's not as effective as he could be at the minute, but you can't ignore that he dragged the entire team through a full month and was the leagues top assist maker, that's pretty damn good for somebody who didn't play a full season. There's a few things about his game which I think COULD improve but they don't need to. The main one is after his first touch he spends 5 seconds getting the ball onto his left foot!

He is very creative and unique in his style of play, he's very much an Arsenal player.

Lol, did you actually think he would move to Man U? :p

I think Wenger understands now that RVP cant play every game and when he came back from injury he rested him well.

I think he can make it through the whole season as long as he doesnt have someone try and cripple him. I am very pleased that he stayed. I was really looking forward to him playing last year, even more so this year.
