is there any worse profession than a sports journalist?

this story was posted as a spoof on a Newcastle forum on saturday...and now it turns up as a news story in a national paper..they really have no idea and check no facts beofre publishing stuff..they were discussing it on talksport as well...all from a made up spoof message

seems all you have to to to be a sports writer is surf the net and make up stuff

*shrug* he rates Eboue and slams Bergkamp ....sums it up really.

I've never once slammed Bergkamp, more utter crap from you as per usual.

AS is usual on this forum, if you say Ronaldo is better than Rooney, which is true 98% of this forum will spend the next 2 years saying you've said Rooney is terrible.

Likewise I never said Bergkamp is terrible, ever, I said I prefer RVP and think he's more clinical, largely due to the fact RVP has barely played for 2 of the last 3 seasons, and he got more goals in each one than Bergkamp managed for his last 4 years for us. He's more clinical in finishing(best season for us Berg's scored what, 16) and assists wise RVP is right up there, with MUCH more pace, better on the wing, better freekick taking, fantastic ability to turn players which Bergkamp also had but his lack of pace meant getting away wasn't so doable.

Bergkamp is a quality player, he had a truly great touch, scored some stunning goals and his vision was superb. But at the end of the day RVP will set up as many goals and score a lot more.

As for Fergie not wanting to pay Eto'o more than £90k a week, who says, he's by any real measuring standard of goal scoring ability, the best striker in the world, 30 goals in 36 this season was it, name another striker thats matched that(theres probably one I can't think of) though in a top 3 league. If he's the best there is, why would Fergie be unwilling to pay him as if he was the best?

Certainly seems to me that fergie will buy a BIG player, considering Rooney is less effective as a front man and more effective creating and has had many of his best games in the past 3-4 months at left wing I know where I'd play him and where I'd buy a new player for.

Bergkamp shaped Arsenal, both in it's History and it's Style of play. He is the only truely World Class player we have ever signed.

RvP is none of those, and I doubt he will be.

What about Henry? id say he was more than world class. In my opinion hes one of the greatest footballers ive watched. miss him in the PL.

Does he mean the only player that was world class when he was signed? There's been quite a few players even in the last 10 years that I'd say were world class, but they all did turn world class at Arsenal, not before

Bingo. The only player we have signed who was World Class at the time we signed him. I'd say only Overmars was close to that.

But it was on the internet so it must be true ;)

if we sign Zlatan im gonna cry. he's talented, undoutably..but not worth the effort nor the money and doesnt really offer much different to berbatov... i hope this is all just malicious gossip!!

Zlatan and Berbatov up front :D They'd only score 5 goals a season between them, but they'd be the best 5 of the season probably!

He was only about £2m too, world class players generally collect a larger fee than that

wiki said £3.5m, but even so those fees cant be compared to megabucks nowadays

Viera when he arrived wasnt that far off Essien now - he practically walked into the French team that won the WC in 98 , 18 months later

After a truly excellent 18 months with Arsenal where he won the double! You can bet your life that he wouldn't have been France's first choice before the Arsenal move (well, he wasn't ..)

My problem with Zlatan, is that he never does the simple things.
Last Euros i think it was, he's waiting on the ball from a corner on the edge of the 6 yard box and he's unmarked.

The ball gets whipped in, aimed at him, perfect height and speed absolutely nailed on bullet header material.

What does Zlatan do? Remember, this is still 0-0 at the time, thats right, he tries to back heel it over his head, and the ball goes out for a goal kick.
The Tool.

You are sooooooooooo wrong on this but I doubt you will have the dignity to say you are wrong.

Dont get me wrong I think RVP is great and has the potential to be as good as Bergkamp but he hasnt got anywhere near there yet and Im not sure he will now.

RVP is still in his shadow

Actually you might be right, I think RVP has it

I'm not trying to get into the RVP vs Bergkamp debate... but... it's difficult to base who's better on team performances and number of cups won.

RVP is in an Arsenal side that is a shadow of it's former self and nowhere near as good as it was when Bergkamp was playing.

Anyway, I don't think RVP is at Bergkamp's level yet anyway...
