**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Deco = ****

23/6/09:

"I'm not happy at Chelsea. I know I have a contract but I want to leave. I would like to have this opportunity," he said in Tuesday's edition of Corriere dello Sport. "I've worked with Scolari and (Frank) Rijkaard, but the best time of my career was with Mourinho."

9/7/09 after Inter say they don't want him:

"I am getting tired of Europe, but out of respect for Chelsea, I will stay on this continent a while longer," Deco told A Bola.

"I have some offers from other clubs, but if I stay at Chelsea it's important that some things change because things happened last year that I did not like.

"I have had some adaptation problems in England and I've been sidelined with several injuries."

Hate players like that, Chelsea should just stick him in the reserves.

Are RM really going to blow that much more dosh or is it just Alonso after a pay rise?
I'd imagine it's a bit of both. A number of players, including Alonso, have commented on how the new tax laws will put a serious dent in their earnings. Only natural to want a higher wage to compensate for that loss.

Real want him and he would like to join them although I don't think he's desperate for the move and I can't see him pushing for it. If he were to stay then I wouldn't rule out a new contract for him but I really don't think that's his motive. On the other hand, I do think Mascherano/Masch's agent is after a pay rise.

It's good to see we're not budging on our valuation for Alonso though and it's even better to see Real are looking else where :)

I'm pretty sure Real's dream midfield before all this was Ribery - Alonso - Kaka - Ronaldo, despite the shocking lack of cover for the defence that offers. In an odd way, mainly because it doesn't involve any Arsenal players, I'd love to actually see that happen, as it would be the sex.

Agreed.

Its only 10% more im sure a good accountant could sort it out.

It's not just the extra 10% tax though. I was reading an article a while back and they calculated that Alonso's getting 30% less now than he was when he first signed his new contract due to the drop in the £.

I'd be suprised if they play like that. They'll play a similar system to what we play with Diarra and Alonso sitting and then Kaka, Ribery and Ronaldo off Benzema

Almost as funny as Glen Johnson...
