The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Just joined eve doing the tutorial missions, looks quite deep as its my first mmo. There are so many skills and items to remember, Does anyone know where i can get my api for my character so that i can use evemon?
thanks dave

If im on a mission and someone comes and starts stealing from my cans so appears RED to me, if I fire on them can their corp then fire on me for 15mins afterwards or is it just the one guy that can fire back?

I'm quite sure it's just him.

Unless he's a noob or just a poor player I'd imagine he is fitted his ship well and should beat any PvE setup.

talk about dumming it down!!!

Slightly annoyed about the changes tbh, before probing was something that took real skill, now it's been simplified beyond belief! I mean, what's with moving your probes around? :(

Yeah maybe they did go a little far, but i much prefer only using 1 type of probe.
Kind of makes the skill to reduce scan time a bit pointless now since its only 10sec :p

Out of interest, I'm currently scraping money together to get an Amarr battleship, but with three available I'm spoiled for choice!
The Armageddon is the smallest and cheapest. Only 7 turrets, with 10% to cap and 5% rate of fire.
The Apocalypse is the middle one, 10% to cap, 7.5% to optimal range.
The Abaddon is the most expensive and toughest, 5% to damage and resists.

I don't think I'll get the armageddon, lowest cap, even with the cap bonuses to the turrets, the extra low slot is nice in exchange for a mid, and its got double the drone bay size, but I have a habit of forgetting drones are there until they've been shot to pieces anyway.

The Apoc is nice, but I'm not sure if its worth it compared with the abaddon. Similar caps, but with the resist bonuses, I'd be able to tank far more damage with an abaddon meaning I won't need repairers running as much, making up for the lack of cap bonus, and a damage bonus is better than the optimal range bonus, IMO.

Or am I talking silly here? Any views?

Just gonna be for running Lv4's. I'll probably be fitting it to the teeth with pulse lasers, I prefer charging in close and shotgunning things in the face, which is why I'm leaning towards the abaddon with its damage and resist bonuses. But it costs almost twice as much as the apoc, that's the only hitch.

Get a geddon until you get used to the lvl 4's, that way it won't hurt as much when you loose it. The larger drone bay is useful, you can carry a set of mids and lights iirc, and the lights are vital for killing the small stuff that will scram you. The rate of fire and cap bonuses are useful too for taking stuff down faster.

Word of warning though - lasers are painful in lvl4's because they're stuck with the same damage type all the time. Depending on the mission, you can find yourself taking sodding ages to take stuff down. If you haven't already, train up to T2 large pulses as soon as you can.

I assume you meant the armageddon there :p

I'll look into that, then. I can afford the 'geddon now, though fitting it will require a little more grinding. I'll have a play with EFT to figure out a nice loadout for it.
Is the ship likely to be cheaper in Amarr space? I'm in Caldari at the moment, and logic would say it probably will be, but would it be enough to make the trip worthwhile?

Thanks!
