**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Arsenal are about to enter the chase for the services of Klaas Jan Huntelaar according to press reports in Spain and Holland. The imminent departure of Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City will give Arsene Wenger the funds required to enter the bidding for the much admired striker.

This news will come as a bitter blow to both Tottenham and Stuttgart who were involved in a straight fight for the Dutchman. Not only do the Gunners have Champions League football to offer the player but also the chance to form a partnership with Dutch international team-mate Robin Van Persie for both club and country.

Huntelaar’s agent Arnold Oosterveer has confirmed interest in the prolific Dutchman when he told Voetbal International, “Klaas-Jan is back in Madrid and he wants to know what his situation at Real is now.”
“There are a lot of rumours around and there is a lot of interest in him.
“But we also have to wait for the player himself to make a decision.”
Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar may have only joined Real Madrid back in January but the club are ready to cut their losses after their recent massive spending spree. A poor end to the Spanish season seems to have heralded the end of the Dutchman’s short stint in Madrid with Arsenal now joining Tottenham at the front of the queue of known Premier League admirers.

With the arrival of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, the first team chances of Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar seems to have dimmed further. He has been linked to the likes AC Milan, Marseille and even Tottenham. Now Arsenal have also made enquiries about the 25-year-old

Another player who Arsenal are interested in is Chelsea’s Salomon Kalou. Last season Wenger asked then Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari about Kalou’s availability. However, Scolari refused to let Arsenal talk to the player, a fact admitted by Wenger in a press conference in February. When asked to comment on Wenger’s interest in him, Kalou had said, “Arsene Wenger said he thought of signing me? That’s an honour for me, an honour. Because he is a very great coach and I know that every single player in the world dreams of playing for Arsene Wenger. I have a lot of respect for him, he is one of the best coaches in the world, so why not.”

It is understood that Kalou doesn’t feature in new coach Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for the Ivory Coast international. The 23-year-old would cost Arsenal close to £9 million.

Limited money?

Were about to have £25 million burning a hole in our pocket :p

And with the ridiculous inflated prices who would that buy seriously?

25m is not a lot in todays climate I'm afraid. Arsenal has sold a lot of players over the past few years and have rarely spent that much so who knows Adebayors fund will buy anyone

Melo is way, way, way too overpriced, so much so that I'd be disappointed if he arrived. However, a midfielder needs to come. In 07/08 Arsenal played the best football in the country for a large part of the season, since then Hleb has been replaced (Nasri/Arsh) but Flamini still hasn't, it's glaringly obvious what Wenger needs to buy. Really hope he does it.

He only played 90 minutes for real madrid on 6 occasions!!

How you expect a striker to get some form sitting on the bench all the time?

Between february and march he played 6 full matches for real madrid scoring 8 goals in the process!

Too early to say if he'd be as good in England. Also, £20m? haha? Maybe for £8m or so

LOL!

Any player in the top 4 seems to be immediately worth £20m+ if some people on here are to be believed yet Huntelaar is only £8m.

He also has the best appearances to goals ratio for Holland.

Robin van Persie------------------37 Caps 13 Goals
Dirk Kuyt----------------------------53 Caps 12 Goals
Ryan Babel-------------------------33 Caps 5 Goals
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar-------------23 Caps 13 Goals
Eljero Elia--------------------------0 Caps 0 Goals

8million for huntelaar flol!!

Hes much better than say santa cruz and he fetched 17 million.

8 million pounds for huntelaar i mean come on seriously.........

Erm, okay? What's he ever done to demand £20m :s? Eduardo has a pretty much identical scoring record to him and Eduardo didn't cost £20m ..

That's what I thought as well, was just checking incase he was injured or not.

No disrespect to the Dutch league, but it's miles behind the other top four leagues and has been for several seasons. I don't think he'd do that well here. True, it's only one season in Spain with a different style, but I just don't see Wenger going for him.
