Arshavin, Nasri, Theo are all best the furthest up the field they get really, we have no need of strikers. If we lose Ade it would be easier to play Arshavin/Nasri as a withdrawn striker and maybe buy a real winger who actually prefers the wing, has real pace and is ok getting back to defend would help but a DM is what we desparately need.
But we needed one last year, from preseason to the close of the transfer window it was incredibly obvious Song/Denilon were completely out of their depth yet ALL year Wenger said they were superb and we didn't need a DM, then at the very end of the year, after losing a bunch of games with an overrun defence suddenly Wenger jumped all over the defence and put the blame on them not being good enough.
Has anything really changed since all the times Wengers made massive statements of support for Denilson/Song, I'm not sure he see's it as a problem or cares, he offered Ade a bump from 40 to 80k, seemingly didn't offer Flamini much of a pay bump and let Diarra leave for very little and Gilberto to. It all screams out that Wenger thinks we already have their replacements. I really hope he changes his mind but repeatedly with money behind him and two transfer windows he's not ignored the problem, he's specifically said he thinks Denilson/SOng are good enough.
With Harry supposedly offering Vieira a cheap wage deal I just hope Wenger doesn't think, cheap wages, free transfer, lets get him back, he's only gone downhill since he left and he left because he had already lost his A game.

I think on his day, as I said before, he's a world class striker, one of the best. However, his day's don't come round very often

he's just a freak though, there are, it has to be said, very very few players in the world who don't play better with games under their belt, which does seem odd considering they practice footie most days of the week even if they aren't playing. Senderos/Cygan, the odd game and they look truly terrible, give them a run like Senderos(maybe cygan aswell) in the champs league in our run to the final and they set a champs league defensive record, with Flamini as a make shift left back also.
Boyd has an weird knack of scoring from the bench and little form, but then we can't catagorically say he wouldn't have scored more starting every game, also the question of doing it in a bigger league which he might do this year, did he move to Brum, can't remember if he did or not.
At 8mil if true Huntelaar must be worth a pop by most clubs, which likely means highest wages/best team to come in for him gets him. I think the second someone had a bid that low officially accepted a dozen clubs would bid the same.

£20m is about market rate for Huntelaar

I would be very happy if we got him for £20m.
If we've spent £18m on Bent and £15m on Bentley, £20m for Huntelaar would be worth every penny.
Huntelaar is worth that.

Ronaldo close to a billion.
Look at what they've just spent on players.
They need to make some money and remove players that they don't think will feature.
The list of players they want to remove is potentially a world class list.
Some are real quality players.
I don't understand from a footballing point of view selling them, from a economical point of view, might make more sense.

Yeah but in my opinion £15m was the right price for Arshavin, so I try and imagine a world without Chelsea/City/Real and make valuations based on logic. I still think £15m for a player is a very large amount, obviously it isn't ..

I agree, without Chelsea, Real, City and the inflation over the last couple of years. Manchester United, and Liverpool have played a part in this as well.
The transfer market, isn't about value for money anymore, it's for milking teams for as much as you can get, Liverpool valuing Mash and Alonso at 30/40 million is a good example. I can't really blame the clubs wanting as much as they can get, I blame the clubs, that for years have paid over the top for average players.
Look for example at the Sheffield United full back, clubs are offering 6 million for him
