**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Kyle Naughton does look pretty damn good in Sheff Utd's defence (no pun intended)

So would me and you ;)

He's a good young player, but 6 million is a lot for a very young full back.
I think, he's probably worth half that if that, I mean we have Tommy Spurr who is as good if not better at left back and a year or so older.

Bergkamp was amazing ! He was never an out and out striker, his record at Inter wasn't fantastic. Yes, it took him 7 games to score his first goal but after that he did score consistently, him and Henry was devistating in attack together.

Just read this on skysports.com

Real Madrid have confirmed talks to sell Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Stuttgart are at an 'advanced stage'.

Why is it that in the 30-odd years between England winning the World Cup and English football being relatively foreign-free, we have NEVER won the holy grail of football?

Face it, English footballers like Lampard, Terry and Rooney are overpaid and overhyped because they are English, they are not as talented as the foreign players; it is laughable that a player of Lampard's calibre is lauded and paid the same as a player like Vieira. There is a gulf of class between the two and the English refuse to accept it. That is the problem.

Realise your limitations, accept them and improve the next generation. The mindset of English football needs to change. The traditional way is not working and has not done for decades. Learn from the foreigners.

Saw the quote. Agree with it. Thought I'd share it, I think Rooney is amazing though :p

Manchester City have spent more money then the Russian Mafia in their first few seasons.

£170mill so far has been spent in the transfer window according to sky sports news...just caught it now...a lot of money already being spent.

Lampard is one of a kind, while I don't think he's an amazing footballer, scoring that many goals from midfield, season after season, is worth a lot. He can win the equivalent 3 or 4 games a year with the amount of goals he chips in with

Funnily enough i agree as well with the quote, id love to see Lampard, Terry and Rooney ply their wares in Spain or Italy for instance...not saying they wouldnt do well but it would give a good indication of just how good they really are.

Rooney i think is amazing too when hes on form but he hasnt exactly set the world alight since moving to Man Utd but i do like him...think hes a good player all in all...

Man City is going to gate crash the Top 4 this year......actually, I am quite worried lol

Not with the manager they have in charge i dont think they will...perhaps with a manager whos world class they will but i cant see it with Hughes really.
I reckon if City dont make Europe next season then expect to see Robinho wanting out...i wouldnt be surprised if hes lamenting his decision of leaving RM for the money aspect...u know what they say about money...cant buy you happiness lol....but in chelski's case its won them a few trophies i suppose:p:D

I can really see the man city team working as a unit.

Mark hughes has been quite clever hes bought quality players that are PROVEN in the premiership, none of the signings are a gamble, they wont need time to adapt to the premiership.

They know the other players they will face week in week out

Hes better than Naughton? Don't be silly.

There is a reason there isn't 3 premiership clubs offering £5m+ for him. Naughton was our best player last season, by quite a fair few miles. And even if we get £6m for him, there is no way we can replace him with anyone near as good.

You do know Naughton is a RB, who can also play on the left equally as good? He also played in the center for 2 games for us, and did very well.

Spurr, best left back in the English game that isn't in the Prem ;)
Mark Beevers best young center back :)

We've had to fight to keep them over the past few seasons, Villa were after Spurr like something chronic at christmas.

I personally thought that every time I saw Naughton he was just far too good to be in the Championship, looks like he's ready for the prem, and a team that's high up too.
