**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Wenger has already said Chamakh will replace Ade if he were to leave, so I doubt he would sign another striker.

I agree. Would be highly surprised if we dont go for him and a DM.

Whatever happens we still need that DM and selling one of our defenders in a swap deal for a striker would be a backwards step imo. We finally got another defender so why would we sell one, then we are back to where we started.

Sell Ade and bring in another DM or two. Then if we have any money left get the arg lol

Nail head as far as Arsenal go.

Selling a defender, is a backwards step, you showed last season it's one place you needed to strengthen.

A defensive midfielder, is a must no excuses.
Selling Ade will free up some much needed cash, added to whatever Arsenal have already, means you can probably splash out on a good DM and maybe a younger DM as cover.

The money should be spunked on Senna. He may be ageing, but he would be a brilliant player for arsenal. Can't see anyone being as good as him for Arsenals needs. Should also leave a fair whack to get in a good, younger DM to replace him.

Aguero would be sweet, but ONLY if the main problem is addressed first.

Senna would be a good buy, there are a fair few quality DM's about.

Aguero, I wouldn't buy him at Arsenal unless you can off load some of your attacking players already, one thing Arsenal don't lack is attacking players.

What's Camacho doing like? I know he was highly regarded, but I have no idea how he has developed, if at all? Maybe a good player to have behind a Senna, or something.

Very much so, buying Aguero, will simply mean another quality attacking player is on the bench. We need to stop having so many seasons with massive quality concentrated in one area with no backup(or first team starters) in another.

THe disturbing thing is how for almost 8-9 years we've had too few centre backs, then every time we get a new one in, we send one off. Upson was looking more than good as backup and potential for being a very good rotation player, but we sold him. Get Gallas fit, an extra right back, send Senderos off. What I've give for two great centre backs and a simple, half decent back up centre back :(

Senna would be, really, the best person around right now I think to fit in, he doesn't mind sitting deep and rarely getting foward, we KNOW he plays fantastically well with Fabregas. I can't see it, I'll hope for it, but not remotely expect it.

THe other option of course is that Wenger didn't promise the players, the board a big signing, maybe he promised RVP that he wouldn't have to play with Ade anymore, that would have made me sign :p

AS I've been saying all thread, and you have a DM is simply required, and a younger cover one is also required because, say we get Senna, for 2mil or 25mil, I don't care, if he got injured 3 weeks into the season and we're straight back to every problem last year, it would ruin the season.

Losing Gallas is also unthinkable, I don't think theres anyone available(to arsenal) that is anywhere near as good. Don't know why his height came up as a problem to talk about end of season, all year at corners you hear Gallas's name, he clears a stupid amount of corners and wins headers(both ends) more than any player on the pitch really. Wenger should be buttering him up, making it clear everyone wants him to stay and doing his damn hardest to get him to sign another contract.

Ade's passed his medical. \o/

And they are paying us £25m right, not us paying them? :D

Despite him being a lazy toad I wish him luck, its frustrating that he didnt show more effort as he could be very good. Im sure his money will keep him happy and the money we get will go straight into Wengers secure wallet.

NOW BUY THAT DM PLEASE!!!!!

Madrid seem willing to pay £30 million for Alonso. At that price it may be worth selling him, but again the question of who to buy as a replacement....

Can't believe Ade actually looks like he's going, I am so happy, I just hope Wenger ploughs the £25m back into the midfield

If that is the fee and he looks like hes going, then I think Rafa should go and raid Valencia, test the waters with Silva and then use him out wide and slot Stevie G back into CM with Masch..
Alonso is my favourite player and will be devastated if he goes, but how many proven CM's without the huge price tag are there?

Livertweet says:

As previously tweeted 2 weeks back, Mascherano WILL be staying at the club and will sign a new deal early next week. Ignore rag-rumours.

Money will be immediately invested in the Silva/Villa deal, with LFC still having funds to allow for the procurement of Noble/Martinez.

Update: The initial £26m fee will include additional bonus payments to LFC, appearance dependant, reaching a possible £29m total.

Obviously, you need to read it bottom to top.

I have to say, I will be very interested if any of this holds truth, because it's mostly not being reported elsewhere.

I love alonso, he's fantastic. TBH, i don't want Mascherano to leave, as he's pretty unique, there are very few players like him. Essien comes to mind, but I don't see him moving to liverpool.

On the other hand, you can get other players like Alonso, obviously he's a class player, but he's replaceable. I would love to see Gerrard drop back to centre midfield again, and for us to have to forwards up front, but at the same time I'm slightly reluctant for alonso to leave.
