**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Whoever gets Tuncay is getting an incredible player

I'm hoping we (Blackburn) place a bid for him as I think he would be a great replacement for Tugay, plus it wouldn't be too hard to change the name on one of my Tugay shirts.

Unfortunately we need to sort out a striker first.

Jesus, what is O'neill doing, consolidating the club as a NON champs league team, ok they took big hits last year with Laursen retiring as he was by miles their best defender. Its all downhill since Jan, Heskey was completely the wrong person to buy, he's started playing different football, Young, Gabby, Barry, even Milner(who isn't great to start with) were worse when they lost that fluidity in attacking football by changing up formation and sticking heskey in.

But Downing is never in a million years worth 12mil, if he wasn't english, a 2nd rate player at a relegated club would be moving to a bottom 6 side for £5mil tops. Its possible Young might switch wings, go upfront and they sell someone else, or be on his way for a decent fee. Would love a pacey winger at Arsenal. Yes he can cross like few others in the league though Bendtner is very good in the air, as is Eduardo. But he's got a great cutting in game and his interplay with Abonglahor and passing between them through a defence is very strong part of his game which you would say was more "Arsenal" style.

AFAIK he is a gooner(or is that gabby?), and Arsenal could do with buying some english talent when they do have cash. if the 6+5 does come in, we're utterly screwed, English players might be expensive now but truly quality English players are already expensive, when the rule is active their prices will only increase as people are desparate to get english players in.

We should really have looked at a 7-10mil move for Upson rather than the dutch guy for the same reasoning.

Isn't Tugay a DM?

Tuncay played the last few games of the season in center mid and did well there as is greatest asset is energy, he did get lost at times and caught out position wise but lal in all he was a great box to box player.

He came to Boro as a Right Mid/Striker, I still think his best position is just off a front man, he isn't an out and out striker.

Real Madrid could sign Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso by the end of the week as they are prepared to meet the club's asking price of more than £30m for the 27-year-old.

I've no problem with this. If he wants to go, thats fair enough. I would rather keep him, but if he really wants to go then I say let him. Would rather have him gone than have an unhappy player and the discord that can bring.

However, we MUST use a prospective 30 mil wisely. I would want to see a big name replacement. Not some 21 year old from Romania or something like that.

No chance we'd sign the most promising attacking player from a great nation like Brazil, then make him train for DM and turn him into a flop

Not sure we were watching the same games then, as he came on quite a lot last season. He's also been bulking up over the summer after claiming he was a bit too lightweight.

After what I thought was a dreadful start, Lucas did seem to improve over the season. Fewer and fewer of his passes went adrift and he began to play tighter more rapid passes rather than trying to play the pitch busting passes that we expect from the likes of Alonso and Gerrard.

Given his age I think Lucas is a nice prospect.

Having said that, if we coin in 30 mil for Alonso then I still want a name player with that money. Not fussed if its someone in the Alonso position, just so long as we use that money to bring in some real developed talent, not yet more young eastern europeans who will inevitably hardly ever play and then get sold on in a year or two years.

We have apparently had an offer matching Stuttgart's accepted by Real for Huntelaar.

He's said to be in discussion with both clubs but Stuttgart would obviously be the better choice.

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has urged Chelsea defender John Terry to make the move to Eastlands to "reignite" his career.
Lol, I'd say his career is going just fine.

I thought that when I heard it on the radio this morning.

Captain of a team likely to do well on every single front next season, captain of his country... what's the problem there?!

How is City going to keep Abe, Cruz, Tevez, Bellamy, Rob and all the others happy?

I'm not an expert manager but he really isn't doing the right thing...surely?!
