**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Well of course, Fabregas is 22 and Alonso is 27, obviously Fabregas is worth more to a business/club, he can be re-sold for as much/more than bought for. Realistically Alonso will be 30/31 when he moves on and will barely fetch a large transfer fee.

Also, not sure if that was a sly dig at me, but I think most people would rate Fabregas as more expensive than Alonso, I'm probably not alone in that respect, added to that, most clubs would also agree.
So you base his value on re-sale. Saying that, it sums your club up perfectly.

Alonso = £15mill Fabregas = £32mill+ :D

I'm confident Insua's going to develop into one of the best wing backs we've had in a long time. He looked so good last year, he's got a huge future ahead of him. I really hope he develops nicely and becomes a first team regular.
when I saw him play in the 1-1 draw with arsenal (I think that was his debut) he was fantastic, great asset to the club, better than dossenna and gives aurelio a run for his money. then again, few players at the club can take a free kick quite like aurelio can and riise could. Does anyone remember when he kicked the ball, it hit Smith and injured him? :p

Spurs buy so many players I don't know how they afford them all. This has to be the make or break season for them, first full season for 'arry and all the players.

People have been saying that for years.

For once, with City spending big, the pressure is off us.

And don't worry, we're more than safe finance wise. Well, until the stadium is built I'd imagine.

Eh?

Saying Carrick is better or equal to Alonso is just not true. He's a good player, but unless you haven't watched the two play regulary, know nothing about football or your in plain denial while wearing Man.Utd tinted glasses, its quite obvious who the better player is.

In my oppinion carrick is as good as alonso, he just didnt have as good a season. Alonso wasnt consided much cop before this season. After this season carrick might be rated higher than alonso but it wouldnt mean he was better.

If they both play as well as they can then I believe them to be equal, maybe carrick edging out alonso.

It was Smith not Scholes.

And just like Aurelio, Riise took about 2 or 3 decent free-kicks during his time at the club.

It wasn't deflected off the wall :p

I'm pretty sure it was, my memory is hazy, but was it not the community shield.

If it didn't deflect, it must have had a fair bit of swing!

EDIT: Wait, I remember now!! It was fortune, who charged the ball, but it swerved so much!! hit the post and went in

I think you're mixing goals and games up (and maybe players too).

He scored a free-kick vs Utd where he smashed it in off the bar and he scored a free-kick vs Chelsea in the FA cup where he curled it into the near post. But neither hit the wall.

Gerrard scored a deflected goal in the league cup vs Utd but that wasn't a free-kick.

Carrick is as good as Alonso! I have seen both play regularly, seeing as I was a Spurs season ticket holder throughout his spell with the club and my brother in law is a Liverpool season ticket holder. Not much difference between them in my eyes. Neither of them are worth > £20m though.
