Wenger rarley talks about transfer targets, give him time.
While usually true, despite awful DM showings from Denilson all pre-season and early season with the window still open, he ignored it, he ignored it in the next transfer window and he repeatedly all season said that Denilson, Diaby, Song, were brilliant, were Arsenals future and were already great with potential to be better. I get that Wenger's often very quiet about transfers and often we don't hear about a player till the day he signs, thats fine. But nothing over the past 18 months makes me think he even thinks we need DM's.
I think he let Flamini go, Diarra, and Gilberto because he thought Song and Denilson would do as good a job for cheaper. I think he still thinks that, mostly because he keeps saying it.
I think to a certain degree you get kids in to play for you, train them for 5-6 years, telling them they aren't good enough, or having rose tinted glasses when watching them becomes easy to do. I think he genuinely doesn't realise all 3 of those players are fairly bad and no where near good enough for Arsenal. Think of it this way, if you thought Denilson, Song and Diaby were REALLY the upcoming Scholes, Beckham, Giggs, would you be running out to buy replacements, because I wouldn't.
Atm Citeh are seriously dreaming if they think they'll be challenging the Top 4 next season.
City have a very strong squad, a more than ample defence that is likely to gain another player. The two weakest links in that team all year start to finish were Hamann and Zabeleta, the second Hamann was out the team they moved out the relegation zone and got close-ish to a euro spot. Zabeleta will barely get a look in this year with a FAR better defensively and offensively Barry in his place.
Tevez and Ade are horrible signings, not least for the price, but in all honesty they could just end up playing Robinho/Roque with those two on the bench a lot.
Defensively, I absolutely gaurentee you, the second they stop playing Onoura they will play 10 times better.
Richards was also awesome after he was switched to right back, even with a midget as cover, offensively he was great down the wing. Richards was also one of the under 21's best players over summer, with Onoura one of the worst.
