Yep its very annoying to me actually. Whenever a game has DRM, people flock to certain sites like ants and post 1 star reviews talking about the DRM. And they have the cheek to fakingly say that they thought the game would be amazing if it didnt have DRM!

Concerning reviews i know that PCGamer UK gave it a 61 and only dedicated half a page too it, surprisingly they don't even mention the DRM. I am a bit dissappointed by how much this game seems to be slipping under the radar, its such a great game as well

Just set the game off downloading on Steam, so i know what im doing today :p

well those of us who have bought the game are enjoying it immensely regardless of the DRM, although i understand the arguement against its inclusion, i cant condemn a company for wanting to protect their product.

companies like Stardock have a different stance and dont include any software protection and openely admit their games like Demigod have been illegally obtained in mass numbers, yet sales are high and increasing.

i guess it all comes down to the quality of the product, Anno 1404 and Demigod for example are AAA quality games that offer practically endless gameplay and value for money.. its these type of games that make the PC the leading platform.

Booooooom!!!!

I played the demo and all was well, worked for an hour and I liked it. However, now I have the full game and I can't install it. It gets to the point where it updates the install shield manager which crashes and then the game can't continue installing. Anyone else had this problem?

Partly, I agree, because you can crack it and never notice the DRM at all...

Partly, I think they should be shot for even thinking about a 3 install limit, even on steam FFS .

The game is great, for a while...

After you've finished 5-10 games in total and all the scenario's, I don't think the game has much replay value.

well, it's been this way since...1602 AD, and Rome, and other games like this. But what stops you 6 months..1 year after you stopped playing 1404 to pick this up again. I played Rome for 5 years...with big pauses between, and i still enjoy it even today if it wasn;t for 1404. It's (in my opinion) a must have game for a gamer's collection.

Wow, talk about coincidence. I just came to this thread while listening to 1up, and they started talking about Anno 1404!

Hmm they're explaining that this DRM is different in that you dont actually get installs back when you uninstall! Now that IS bad!

Well, while I'm hard to please, I'm starting to get bored of it after 3 games...
Rome was different for me, I played 1 game far longer and it felt less repetative because I got to new territories and enemies contantly...

It's also a bit of a drag imo to plop down house by house, I far prefer a zoning mechanism like in games like Caesar3, Pharaoh and Sim City 4 Deluxe...

I don't exactly know what it is but anno is starting to drag on for me, while other strategy/sim games like rome, pharaoh, caesar 3, railroad tycoon 3, sim city, etc stayed fun for longer whiles.

What's wrong with my coffee plantations?

I have 4, they all started running at 100% then after an hour I got an alert saying goods weren't being produced. I checked them and it seems they are all now running at only 10%, even though storage is not full and they are all supplied by norias. I deleted and rebuilt the fields and magically productivity came back to 100. After another hour I get the alert again... can't figure out what's going on

Just started getting patricians now after a few hours and im hooked, but is it normal for your income to take a massive hit when your citizens start ascending to patricians? Mine dropped from like +300 to negative figures

Had the same thing .. Only happens on desert islands when you manually asign the fields . Let it do the fields by itself (watering can) and it will be fine and not mess up . Also happens with other stuff .

Persil

Did you really have to post such a huge screenshot to illustrate your problem...?

FWIW I too have had similar issues with other commodities and found that either the watering can helps or just leave them to go through a fallow / growth type of cycle.
