Has anyone considered whether or not placing beautification elements such as statues or cypress trees increases the chance of the population advancing? I'm not too sure myself...

I haven't found them to have had any effect yet upon my population.

What significance is there in obtaining trade rights with the AI? I'm alerted as to when two AI sign a deal together, so I assume there is some importance in gaining them myself. Leifs never has any goods up for sale, so I can only sell to him...

god damn man...finished up my 3rd city, all the island is essentially a huge city...and they're eating like crazy. 30 fishing huts and they still can't get enough lol. and then comes the cider..the linen garments. G.O.D. i need more resorces or they'll hang me soon.

With a peace treaty, obviously they won't attack you and you can't attack them.

With a trade treaty, they will send out ships that can buy things at your harbours (if you have them set to sell). I believe you can also sell things to them with your ships, and sometimes they have will have stuff you can buy.

Not sure what bonus an alliance treaty has over a trade treaty, but I assume it means something like they will help you if you get into a war with someone else. I know if you ally with someone, sometimes the other players lose reputation with you over it, so I assume this is because you could team up against them.

Eh, let them eat cake. :D

I'm alright for fish at the moment, although just had to build my 7th one (3.2k population so far, purely Occident except about 290 Nomads). Problem I have is how much they munch through the bread, I have a ship purely shipping bread as I have to transfer about 70 tons of it :/

By the way does anyone know the dimensions of Imperial Cathedral? Just I'm trying to create enough space for it prior to getting the required amount of Noblemen.

..a big ass building indeed. didn't knew about this till more sophisticated noblemen moved in. had to sacrifice some decent citizens to build this...and it got built in..4 days due to not having 3500 noblemen. on my 3rd city i did leave empty spaces for some specific buildings...but their rate of developement is crazy.
still a little help if it's possible: i don't understand where i can see how much stuff gets consumed over time...like in 1 month my city consumed 450 tons of beer, 340 spices..stuff like that. i need to calculate how much time does a ship take to get from A to B with the cargo etc. And finally i need to know my money balance per month or year...how much money i got from trading goods. OR...this info isn;t available in the game. Curently at 35k residents, aiming for 50k with a stable goods flow.

How do I get the 2nd prestige level for the orient?

well, how i did it: you have to make quests for that Lord Richard Northburg that works for the emperor. And ofc, trade and do tournaments often to get honor. As your settlement progresses, he will have some specific stuff to trade (citizens, patricians, noblemen slots)...some papers that will increase your rep with the orient. and these "papers" only sell for honor. (they re-apear every 1 hours or so). Buy them, send your ship to the Grand Vizier and voila. Hope this helps. btw, i'm on a continuous game, but this rule still applyes in all modes i think.

I have been surprised at the lack of review available for this gem of a game and surely that could only hinder its sales..? Then again at one site where this game is sold it has been rated as being very poor by those who have bought it - due to the DRM used and not the actual game itself.

Yup. Annoyingly, it's been receiving 2/3 star reviews on a certain seller's website purely because of the DRM. Sure, people give it glowing reviews inside the text but I think many simply glance at the stars and walk off.

Oh well. I have the game. :o :D
