**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Christ you have moved on fast, so Ronaldo is now a player that was well rubbish, "need to get back to being that and key players" so was Cantona just a key player?

You guys make me laugh.

Owen has shown nothing, he has scored a couple of goals against tin pot teams. Bent scored about 14 goals in pre season last year and he was a flop, couldnt score from 6 yards with a header, I just hope Owen can get back to fully fitness for Englands sake.

Its funny, Bent was the 7th highest scorer in the premierleague, the same Rooney got, hardly... terrible, is it. He also wasn't playing regularly yet still got quite a few.

Here's a shock, lots of people miss sitters. In one of Kanu's best seasons he missed from a half yard right in the middle of the goal, Ljunberg did the same in one of his best seasons, though Kanu has done the same most seasons since then also :p

However that doesn't make your wrong about Utd, its crap and a really poor excuse, Ronaldo not playing won't mean Rooney is played upfront more, and nor was Ronaldo being played anything at all to do with Rooney not playing upfront towards the end of the season. Infact if Owen is the only key person added to the squad its almost certain Rooney will be playing mostly the wing.

Nor will Utd play more as a team, Ronaldo's got more assists in a season than any other player in the utd squad has managed. He's got less assists lately because the team plays for him to score, because he's the best finisher, he's still got WAY more than the league average in assists while being the teams top scorer, important defending at freekicks and corners. This myth he wasn't a team player, because he dives a bunch, is crap. He's a massive loss that they really haven't replaced and they are hoping Owen fills in the goals and Nani/Valencia step up, aswell as praying Hargreaves comes back.

Its just, petty, to pretend that Ronaldo's not a big loss, that he never passed, and that the team as a whole will suddenly shine without him there. IN fact its the most laughable thing I've read on these forums, one of Rooney's and Berb's best performance's this year was the comeback to Spurs, a game in which Rooney, Berb's, Ronaldo all shined in, all passing between each other, all involved in every goal, together, with perfect passing and runs and timing. Somehow Ronaldo got, was it 2 goals and an assist(if not two) and yet, the team shined, the other best players all played their best, no sign whatsoever of Rooney/Berb's/anyone else suffering just to make Ronaldo look good. For the key player in Utds recent dominance, its hilarious how quickly the fans turned on him.

If you want to see how most people like to treat their best players, its in seeing Arsenal fans happy as hell to see Henry win a CL medal as he thoroughly deserved it. Fantastic servant to our club who we were all more than happy for him to do what he wanted to do.

Yeah he has money available. Hoping for somebody like Inler who can bulk up the midfield, or somebody like Flamini who just runs so much they are persistantly annoying the other team. They don't have to be world class, just good enough to play next to Cesc, now.

Im not saying he is always right but there is a SAF interview from yesterday claiming there is "evidence" that Wenger does NOT have that £25m to spend

Id better rush and put a tenner on united not winning anything this year then. United won the league by a small margin, didnt get as many points as they have done in previous seasons and didnt win the champions league. That doesnt sound like a player that has taken a league winning side and made them much better.

We will see how we do. Barcelona taught us a lessen about how football is played and it apparently doesnt involve giving it to one player to beat the other team on their own. To say that we wont be as good as before is pure speculation, we will miss him but it doesnt mean we wont be a better side this year.

Hahaha only because you sold him when it was plainly obvious he had given you his bets years and those days were behind him in the premiership. The money for where he was at career wise was a complete no brainer.

If he'd left by his own choice after Arsene had turned him into a superstar the fans wouldn't have been so forgiving.

Everton defender Joleon Lescott will plead with manager David Moyes to allow him to speak to Manchester City over a move, with City expected to make an improved £18m offer for the England International.

Another mercenary, sell him on. 18 million for a defender who chips in with goals but gets caught far too often too far forward. Sell Lescott move Yobo back into the middle with Jag and buy a right back.

Bent has told Redknapp he won't join Sunderland...

So if Redknapp really wants rid, he'll only get £10m and he'll be off to Fulham.

If they offer £40m and the reported £250k a week he'll be gone by this time next week, I can't see how he can turn that level of stupid money down.

If that's the case why did Man.U. agree to pay £25.5m for him then, has Fergie no say in the transfer dealings?;)

He says in the same interview that he respects the fans have their heroes and was willing to go for the 25m despite not thinking he was worth it.

Terry has done nothing more than use this to try to get his wages bumped upto figures even he can't believe are true. If not he would come out and say I want to stay at chelsea and put all this speculation to bed.

Lescott could do the same with city, instead he will have an agent desperate to atleast get to talks to get the money upped, even if both players actually want to stay at their clubs.

Neither Terry or Lescott will want to go down the road of requesting a transfer so they get less money in a move.

If lescott goes I won't care either way for the money but the terry saga as a chelsea boy through and through is laughable. There is no other reason other than cash to go. When he was a kid going through the ranks at chelsea he could never have dreamed how successfull chelsea were to become. Yet for more wages per week he will give that all up to play for a club being built.

He will go from potential club legend to **** of the decade.

I'm sure it's just haggling for more money and I hope chelsea hold firm they have no need to panic. He gets paid enough and will have to risk his whole reputation to hand in a transfer request.

I want rid of Bent asap tbh. He hasn't come across well when being interviewed or even when talking to the public.

He moaned to high water when he was left on the bench for all of 3 consecutive games last season.

Sven at league two county now that would be fun! We will be in the premiership in no time.

On people saying Ronaldo won't be missed. Of course he will he was the best player at unitedtwo seasons in a row by miles but Man U lose big players all the time and still challenge for all the honours. Man U will still be a force.

Quick question, if City are willing to pay £40m and £250k wages that means they could buy any defender in the world, why choose John Terry? Don't understand :s

More goal.com rumours of Man Utd persuading Valencia to sell Silva for 45m euros now that Barca and Madrid are out of the picture

Complete made-up BS I say (even though I would love him at Utd and is worth that kind of fee)
