**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Quick question, if City are willing to pay £40m and £250k wages that means they could buy any defender in the world, why choose John Terry? Don't understand :s

Citeh need an experienced captain and great leader if they want to succeed at the highest level, there's no doubting Terry's ability in that dept.

Sunderland dropped out of Crouch race, leaving just Fulham and Tottenham, Crouch wants to stay in the south, so its either the new owners have convinc£££d him to stay, or he'll end up at most likely Tottenham, if they sell players sharpish.

Crouch now "100% a Spurs player" apparently.

I'll wait till it's confirmed before I believe it though.

Most likely, got a feeling if Roy wanted him that badly, he'd be a bit more concerned about losing him to another team. Still being linked with Negredo, though. Just our first game is in just over a week...could do with a few extra players :p

Edit: Samir Nasri apparently injured in training and taken to hospital?

I still reckon Redknapp will have to sell to afford crouch...one of the other strikers will have to go

the reality of it is with a partner like his he was never going to leave london. so he will have to get paid less for that

of course the new owner at portsmouth might want to keep him as well now

Hahaha only because you sold him when it was plainly obvious he had given you his bets years and those days were behind him in the premiership. The money for where he was at career wise was a complete no brainer.

If he'd left by his own choice after Arsene had turned him into a superstar the fans wouldn't have been so forgiving.

errm, isn't that exactly what happened. His flailing career turned around by Wenger, which took him to PL titles, cups, personal accolades, moving to be the main striker in a world cup and euro winning French side, something that Ronaldo has yet to achieve.

Didn't Arsenal do just as much if not more for Henry than Utd did for Ronaldo. He maybe wasn't having his best year before he left, but then, neither did Ronaldo... apparently.

As for leaving, we turned down a twice as big offer the year before, Wenger never wanted to lose him, Henry said he wanted to leave, Wenger let him leave.

He hadn't had the best year through injury, infact closer to 18 months, and he didn't get back to form till his second year at Barca.

But after he left you didn't see Arsenal fans pretending he'd never been that good, or pretending that he was selfish in the years he got goals but not as many assists.

Wow, Nasri rushed to hospital (maybe out for up to 6 months) and Vela out with a long term injury already. What's the point, this is stupid now :/

Is there a chance that Gerrard will be in jail for next season, the reports on the trial aren't exactly encouraging for him, his pals have pleaded guilty it says, its not clear but is he pleading not guilty? Won't that get him a worse sentence?

Considering video supposedly shows it wasn't an instant reaction and no one hit him before he started to attack this guy right?

Limited press story on it but, if it was anyone but Gerrard, unprovoked, semi brutal attack on a guy who didn't throw a punch at Gerrard, pleading not guilty(maybe) when he clearly is. Its been so long but I can't really remember how badly the guy got hurt. But you can't imagine the judge(is there a jury also) being anything but disgusted as it all started over someone saying no to Gerrard and him getting all angry that someone dared say no to him.

Anyway seriously, if he did jail time, Pool's season is already over isn't it?

Not if they keep hold of Alonso and Masch IMO.
