Ibrahimovic is a class player, so is Eto... am sure there is good reasoning for this deal but Eto and that much money looks pretty excessive.... but i suppose Eto in his last year of contract and him maybe wanting to leave adds up...

I dont think Barca will have any trouble keeping up with Real...im more concerned that Real may not keep up with Barca...far too many egos in that team for my liking.
Kinda hoping that Real fall flat on their face in their desperate attempt to win the La Liga, Copa Del Ray and the CL as well....that would be terribly funny.

No chance of Spurs getting him.
Eto'o can leave on a free at the end of the season though, so isn't really worth that much at the moment (regardless of his ability).
Yeah I agree that I still think Barca will win La Liga next season. I just think that maybe it's an attempt to appease some fans, who are seeing RM spending like it's going out of fashion and as a result are worried.
No need to be. I'm fairly sure it'll take at least a season for the RM team to "gel".
Well if thats the case then Barca got an awesome deal out of it..£30 odd mill plus Ibrahamovic whilst getting shot of Hleb, who as ive said is a good player just hasnt been able to secure a first team place regularly in the Barca side.
I dont think Barca are losing out...they get Ibrahimovic whos a proven goal scorer like E'to but also get a nice £30 odd mill or something out it..
True although i think it will be a lot closer though than it was this past season in the La liga. Still think Barca will win it but not with such a big margin as they won it this yr.

As I understand it that part is down to Levy. We currently have 4 £15m strikers so it's hardly a priority as Harry has just been quoted saying after pulling out of the Crouch deal claiming he's too expensive. I think we have to sell Bent for £16m for Levy to be willing to do anything... who is willing to pay it?
Besides I think Huntelaar wants CL footy, we'd have to offer crazy money to turn his head. Not something Levy would do imho.
Barca have had an offer of about £38m plus Eto'o, in exchange for Zlatan Ibrahimovic accepted, while Alexander Hleb will also join Inter on loan.
Quite possibly the worst deal I've ever seen.....Eto'o > Ibrahimovic
Eto's goalscoring record is incredible though. Why swap Eto'o for an inferior striker and pay £38m ?

There was something interesting I read a few months back, although I can't remember where I read it or who it was that provided the info, but the jist of it was that a wage cap at Spurs was a myth and that there is a considerable amount left for several big name players on high wages. I think if we really want him, he could well end up on big money.
I agree that we need to sell one of the 4 first though.
Defoe: Not a chance. Likely to become our 1st choice ST.
Keane: I highly HIGHLY doubt we would do that to him. His confidence has already took a huge blow.
Pavlyuchenko: Has only now got the break he deserves after coming from one club and straight into a new season with another with no rest in between. Deserves at least until Jan.
Bent: The only viable casualty of this window. Not exactly a fan favourite and who can forget "My missus could have scored that"
I think we'll see the back of him for £12m.

Because Eto'o only has a year left on his contract and probably wants to leave? Therefore they need to get whatever he's worth while they can.

The media appears to have completely ignored the large amount of money going into Inter's bank account, how Zlatan who almost never turns up in the big games is worth (to Barca at least) £30m+ as well as a proven goal scorer like Eto'o who could would easily fetch £25m on his own is really beyond logic

I wasn't talking about a wage cap as such, we'll pay what we need to. Trouble is to attract top quality without CL football we need to offer CL wages + extra to tempt the player to forget about lack of europe... So more than any CL team sniffing around. Also I think our priorities have just changed with the news King, Woodgate and Dawson will all miss the start of the new season. We're looking thin in that department and can we really afford to spend another season relying on King?
