You'd think the swap deal was Eto'o + £35m for Ameobi the way people are going on.
Here are the last three seasons goal records:
08/09
Eto'o: 36, Ibra: 29
07/08
Ibra: 22, Eto'o: 18
06/07
Ibra: 15, Eto'o: 13
Barca are the ones paying the £30m not receiving it.![]()
Ibra = 66
Eto'o = 67
Worth 38m and Hleb?
Because Eto'o only has a year left on his contract and probably wants to leave? Therefore they need to get whatever he's worth while they can.
I wasn't talking about a wage cap as such, we'll pay what we need to. Trouble is to attract top quality without CL football we need to offer CL wages + extra to tempt the player to forget about lack of europe... So more than any CL team sniffing around. If we do then there's the problem of our other stars like Modric & Co then going kicking Levy's door down saying WTF!
Also I think our priorities have just changed with the news King, Woodgate and Dawson will all miss the start of the new season. We're looking thin in that department and can we really afford to spend another season relying on King?
But from what i have been told...Barca arent getting **** for him other than Ibrahamovic, who like a few people have said in here doesnt turn up for the important games....just means Henry will have to turn up.
But im hoping im proved wrong with Ibrahamovic having a stellar season and scoring plenty of goals.
Still pretty stupid of Barca to be paying that much money and giving Hleb away on loan..
Frightening tbhIndeed. That's one mega blow to have practically our top 3 CBs all missing the start of the season. Naughton is allegedly able to play CB but I haven't seen anything of him so can't comment on that. Then we have Corluka so our back line for the first few games could look like:
Chimbonda---Corluka---Naughton---Disco Benny
Frightening tbh
Though I think Hutton would get the nod over Chimbo or Naughton as first choice RB? I've said it a few times but I'd like to see Huddlestone given a run at CB, especially if we're down to the bare bones.
I think a new CB should definately be a priority.

Also, I'd expect him to be your first choice fullback before the end of the season. Every test he seems to have, he just plays better. So sad to see him leave.![]()
Harry Redknapp admits Tottenham may have to enter the market for a defender after a series of injuries left him without one fit centre-half.
Spurs had been favourites to sign England international Peter Crouch but Redknapp concedes that injuries to Michael Dawson, Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King mean a move for a defender has now become his priority.
Redknapp revealed that King "hasn't kicked a ball all pre-season" after his long-term knee injury flared up again on his return from the summer break.
Woodgate has been sent to a specialist in America to look at a groin injury while Redknapp also revealed that former Nottingham Forest defender Dawson will miss the start of the season with an Achilles injury.
The three injuries have left Spurs without one fit recognised central defender with the Premier League season due to start in under four weeks.
"We weren't thinking of buying anyone in defence but suddenly this problem has come up all of a sudden and it leaves us short," said Redknapp.
"Suddenly your priorities change and you think maybe we'll have to do something about getting a centre half in for the start of the season because we have no central defenders."
Redknapp was also quick to dampen speculation linking both David Beckham and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar with a move to Spurs.
"I admire him (Beckham) as a person and a professional but that's not an area I'm looking to strengthen," Redknapp said.
"Aaron Lennon plays for me and has been in great form and David Bentley plays there as well.
"Huntelaar is a great player that interests us but I think it's another one that's beyond us."
I swear 90% of this thread has been about spurs who have signed who?

Its all very weird though, they say he's professional, his results on the pitch are a ridiculous goal return, never complains in training or about not starting apparently.
