SUFC signed him from under you!

We have also signed Ched Evans.

Quite underwhelmed with Ryan France tbh. When Blackwell said he would be signing a solid midfielder, I was hoping for someone with a bit more... Well, ability :/

You bar stools !

I wouldn't of been too bothered by signing him or not, we could do better, as could you, but we both could have done a lot worse. We are really short of a midfielder, he doesn't need to be the best ability, just a good solid midfielder with a decent level of energy.

I have faith in Laws so expect him to pull something out of the hat ;)

Evans should be a good signing :) Looks quite good, and he's fairly young.

Anyone else you lot after ?

Arsenal aren't going to win the league, whether they buy a DM or not. And, if the club do not have the money, they can't buy the players.

Still praying that by some huge miracle, Arsenal get Senna though. :p

Who do you think will win the league? I don't think there's anybody who's a clear favourite but if I had to choose it'd be Chelsea. I think if Arsenal buy 2 more players they're definitely in with a shout.

Another massive worry is Arsenal play all of the top 4 whilst the ACoN is in play, so that pretty much means Denilson is playing all of those games, really Arsene? Sort it out :/.

Who do you think will win the league?

Manchester United or Chelsea to fight for it.

Chelsea have a fantastic side, as do Manchester United.

Liverpool, could run them both close.

Arsenal, fighting for third / fourth this season, with Liverpool ( I think Liverpool will get 3d ) and I think it's all down to how the "chasing pack" do in closing the gap to the top 2.

Same as the past few years really :(

I'd be surprised if Man Utd are great this season, that said, Ferguson will probably buy a few players before the window closes. Currently I think they've got the weakest midfield in the top 4 though, which they really shouldn't have

Its surprising just how weak it is, considering the money we spend year in year out.
Along with our striking options, and geriatric goal keeper.
And the fact we dont have a dedicated right back other than a highly enthusiastic 18 year old and a 34 year old who cant stay fit for more than 2 minutes anymore.
There is going to be an awful lot of weight on Waynes shoulders this year, I fully expect him to end up lamping someone before christmas if we dont sign anyone else.

I dont think ManU are favourites to win it this year. They have lost a great player and replaced him with some good players (if they stay fit).

I can see Chelski having a good start as they have a new manager and they are all looking to impress.

I cant remember who liverpool have brought in this summer? But I think they will be in with a shout.

I dont think its all doom and gloom for the gunners. My only concern is that if we suffer more injuries we will come into trouble again like last year. If we avoid the injuries then i still think we will be pushing for top position.

i think thats a bit harsh on our midfield.

Whilst we dont have any "great" players, i think the players we have, have a lot of potential and will get the chance this season to show it.

Who would we get in anyway? It seems these days everyone wants to play in spain regardless of money and fergie has already said he aint gonna pay over the odds just to get a player in.

I dunno about options but you better hope to god Carrick doesn't pick up a long term injury or your CM is going to be a bit of a mess for a while.

I think the same could have been said about Man U this time last year...

Chelsea will be strong, it'll depend on everyone else.

Liverpool have not had real key players leave, and think they will do well, this could even be their season.

I think we (Arsenal) are in a better position than this time last year. So much was expected from last season. Allot of people are writing us off already. So lets hope everyone keeps thinking that way and we're not affected by injuries. You never know we might pulll a few things off.

Anyone else you lot after ?

We have got Keith Treacy or whatever on-loan until january. And, I have no idea of any other targets. We better have some though, we need a Goalkeeper, and could do with another Fullback.

Though, if this Andy Taylor is any good, we should be ok. But, we are desperate for a 'Keeper. We should have already bought Lonergan IMO. There would be no point replacing Kenny with someone inferior, after losing our best 2 players of last season. (Naughton and Halford)

Also, I think the title is Chelsea or ******'s. If I had to put money on one, it would be chelsea. *Punches self over and over*

Please don't use that term

Good signing for Sunderland although very confusing, from Marseille to Sunderland? Especially after he'd said that he would only leave for a team that was challenging for top honours. They must be paying him a lot or Deschamps really wanted to get rid of him!

So our midfield is weaker than Arsenal's is it? Consistently against your lot Fletcher and Anderson especially completely nullify Fabregas who is your only worth while central midfielder. Adding to those two we've got Carrick and if he ever gets fit Hargreaves as well that's 4 central midfielders that are all better than any that are at Arsenal (bar Fabregas obviously)

Time will tell but it seems that there's a big chance that Liverpool wont have the services of Alonso and Mascherano next season which would undoubtedly mean our midfield is better than theirs also as unless they revert Gerrard back into there they'd be relying on Lucas and whoever is purchased

Right now I would say that on paper only Chelsea's midfield looks the strongest of the top four with Lampard & Essien being the stand out two complimented by the likes of Mikel, Ballack and Deco also in the squad but based on the previous season the involvement of Deco & Ballack might be minimal and Essien seems to be a tad injury prone and hasn't had a proper run in Chelsea's midfield probably since his first season

Arshavin (not tested centrally, yet), Rosicky and Nasri are also quite worthwhile midfielders, but meh, not worth going into I suppose

4 year contract. signed for 5 million.

chuffed to bits with this one.

You should be, from what I've seen of him he's definitely a good player, has CL experience and was the captain of his club and country (still is!). A great deal for £5m, wouldn't have minded Arsenal going in for him at £5m, at that price there's barely anything to lose. Sunderland look like they're trying to move away from the relegation battle and good for them
