Picked this up a couple of days ago, *check sig. for system specs.* and the performance is utter LOL. I actually laughed, when I should've probably cried seeing as this doesn't bode well for my hopes of running Operation Flashpoint 2 at anything near to high settings.

The reason I post this I suppose, is

1. See if anyone else here has this game and have any tips to boost performance etc.

2. I saw a thread recently about whether or not we need more power in our PC's... well, this game answered that.

I'm actually pretty stunned, this game took my computer by the horns and did a fat turd in it's face :(

*edit* Sorry, didn't actually say what I'm running it on, everything on low, except normal model detail and terrain detail and 1240*1280 res. View distance is 2100.
*edit2* Quite obviously but ntl, don't have anti alias

Its is a bit of a hog - not to mention how laggy the input is - some people say it only happens to some people - but I think they are just insensitive to it - I've tried it on several systems with same result including playing on someones system who claims theres no input lag on theirs and still feel the crosshair playing catchup with your input...

Any how performance wise - on a single card with everything maxed out at 2048x res with 4x FSAA and a bit of overclocking I get ~30-35fps - average with 260GTX SLI is 55-60fps.

But with the horrid input lag it doesn't make much odds if you have 20fps or 100fps it feels the same - infact from the feel of the game I'd hazard they are only doing gameworld and input updates at 20Hz and rendering interpolated as fast as possible.

oh oh i have a thought...

I ran it yesterday and it was like cell shading madness with huge lag, so after making a sad face, i read some posts and found out that it doesnt like more than 2gb ram (i have 8..)

make a shortcut and use the switch -winxp

worked for me, running 1900x1200 with a single 9800GX2 and running perfectly, although the motion bluring is getting annoying.

Theres a mod that turns that horrid motion blurr off, looks so much better,
Its just a folder you add to your root folder and add something to your shortcut.

i have to admit i havn't noticed any input lag yet..which is a surprise cos i suffer from it in a lot of games :/

i think i'll try that winxp thingy

Although its an awesome game, i do believe the actual performance and stability of the game is awful...i mean crysis has better fps haha

Just out of coriosity is this mainly a gpu or cpu game?

Ahhh, so I was being lazy, and now searched some internets and found some VERY helpful stuff on performance improvements in the game!

With regards to the input lag, turn off aim deadzone? It's in game settings, other than that it's not a problem I've experienced so far *crosses fingers*

Some really great stuff, managed to knock this game out of the park now whereas before I was really struggling with it!

I've played with the aim deadzone setting - doesn't help...

I get exact same feeling in crysis too, about the only games I notice it.

What did you do exactly to get it working so great mate?

I've tried all sorts of things and still can't get it working satisfactorily! :(

everything on low???? my old 1950xt was able to run better then that

I have problems with it as well, its a bit choppy, I know I put a lot of pressure on it but jezz and yes its patched, tbh it went better without the patch:confused:

Hey mate, just had a look at your specs, your in a similar boat to me. Unfortunately you're not going to like the fix to the problem. You have to roll back to XP. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous. Go and have a read on the forums of armaholic. It's the only way to enable your SLI profile with most people, some recommend the EVGA hotfix whilst others recommend using -winxp in the launch options, neither worked for me so I took the plunge and rolled back, I'm now laughing and my computer is now laughing at the game. High settings except for anti alias which I've left off, 1920x1200 it's fine, honestly can't ask for more when viewing distance is up at 4000.

Let me know how that goes and feel free to drop me a PM if you're still having trouble.

*edit* Also, try searching for something called Armamark, it's just a benchmarking tool which will help you track progress and see what changes are helping and what aren't. Would also recommend reading the forums in general, such as the general discussion on Arma 2, that's where the benchmark results are, good for comparison etc, and also try editing your Nvidia control panel settings, such as pre rendered frame amounts, try moving that from 3 (nvidia default) to six or 8 and also edit the Arma 2 config, and in there change the render resolution, to the same resolution you've set the game to, as they're not usually the same as one another to begin with, you'll find that should make a drastic improvement straight away.

*edit 2* Just for reference, what sort of performance have you been getting on it up till now?*

If you have an SLI setup then SLI doesn't often work properly with the game unless you rename the exe or use the EVGA SLI "Enhancements"...

renaming to crysis won't do anything if your using a single card tho.

arma 2 is running very smooth with all the setting on high at 1920x1200. Never had sli before beside this is my first time having 2 graphic cards.

I had the very same problem and fixed it by installing the EVGA SLI "Enhancements" for 190 drivers.

Now it frickin flies!
