Looks like we are in for a rough time as game RRP rises

I'll tell you how much I paid, £24.99 on launch day for the PC Via a large online retailer.

I wont pay £54.99 for its sequel, thats for sure.

Dunno why you are comparing teh PC and consoel versions? The PC version is not 54.99 RRO.

My point is 95% of people in this thread DID NOT PAY THE RRP FOR THE LAST COD MW GAME.

Why are the same people assuming they will be forced to pay 54.99 RRP for the new one?

The game will be about £42-45 online for PS3 and 360 at launch and £49.99 in shops.

The point you were originally making was that where did the £10 extra figures come from, most of us here probably paid £35 on release from online stores, at present most stores are selling it for very close to or at £45, pretty much a £10 rise. We won't be paying £55 for it, true, but it's still going to end up being about a tenner more expensive.

Maybe not the case with MW2, if MW is anything to go by. But I've found most games get discounted quite heavily within a couple months, sometimes weeks! If you shop around supermarkets and such you can get them easily for £10 less than normal on release day. I picked up RF:G for £32 locally on launch.

I can see why they're doing it, MW was such a big success why wouldn't they try and bleed some more money out of gamers?

I mean, it's not like they're a business that's trying to make money or anything...

I don't mind waiting a little longer for prices to fall ;) it's what i have always done in the past and will continue to do so even when i win the lottery.

No, but I own all the consoles as well, And the point is, I wouldnt pay £54.99 for it, say, if it was just available on the consoles.

I mean, MW was fun, for a couple of days, but it was no great shakes in the grand scheme of FPS's, to charge £54.99 for what is to all intents and purposes an above average game, is a joke.

Also there is always *****, they usually have the best prices lol

Just a heads up, you can't quote OCUK competitors without getting a warning/suspension from the mods.

Yeah, what I am saying is no-one is selling it at 54.99 yet!! Same way as people bought the game at a discount when it was £49.99 last year, this year will be the same. The discount will be less as the publisher has hiked it's prices but still I doubt many places will have it at 54.99 RRP.

Yes. Having said that it is still a few months before the game comes out and prices will change. Also, I recall COD4 not being around for £35 openly at launch. Even supermarkets had it for £39.99, to my recollection.

I just don't understand the "panic merchant" mentality this early before the game is released.

Well all I can say is this will definitely push more people into Piracy, I certainly wont be buying any game no matter the appeal for £40+. I think £40 is a rip off so I certainly wont be paying more than this.

I'll just be buying loads of old second hand games instead, this is even worse than DRM.

Good job I've got this pre ordered for £30 on pc though.

i think this is a load of **** tbh, at the end of the day base rrp for 360 games is 49.99 anyways and if everyone can remember games at launch were 49.99, now however the rrp is the same, but u never see games sold above 39.99 anymore.. so mw2 rrp is 54.99 who cares, this means nothing anyway because its being sold for 44.99 everywhere anyways, and in some places ive seen it at 42.99 at then end of the day id rather pay 3-5 quid extra for a game ill play 5x more than any other

It's an extreme rarity I pay £40+ for a game. I might if it comes with essential accessories. Like I bought Time Crisis 4 for £40.

I only paid £21 for Kill Zone 2 and £16 for Resistance 2. In stead of hinting at piracy which I've seen I'll say the second hand market will improve.

Personally I think (good) games are underpriced compared to how much enjoyment you get out of them. They also haven't really suffered much from inflation, I mean £55 today was the equivalent of £40 in 1997 anyway.

I got it from a supermarket for 29.99 at launch and I wont be paying more than 32-35 for this one at launch either. I will just wait.

Gaming is cheap but I dont pay more than that for any game. I will just play something else until the price comes down. They need me more than I need them.
