Looks like we are in for a rough time as game RRP rises

Well as always I'm sure games will be cheaper on the interwebs. I'm annoyingly bitter though so if COD6 is more than £40 online I'll refuse to buy it on principle!
 
wow this is a joke tbh, its greed really, they know that COD6 will sell bucket loads given how popular 4 is, until recently COD4 has been £40 everywhere and now that the new COD will be here soon its dropping to £30 or £25 but thats a 2 year old game.

If EA arent putting prices up then i think that it says it all really.

Also a month or so after its released there will be like DLC and that will be another £10's worth hmmmmmm

might be time to upgrade my pc......
 
You can preorder Gran Turismo 5 for 32.95 Goo Sony.

Its just activision riping the **** on a hugely popular game. Shame people will cave in and buy it.

This actually happened c.2001-2003 - with a campaign (which had it's own website) that featured in the press and gaming magazines.

The argument of this campaign was the high price - low risk - only a few profitable titles per publisher model wasn't working. That actually cheaper games would equal higher sales, more diverse range of games becuase of more risk taking on game developing.

Unfortunately though it didn't result in any changes, simply becuase there are enough people out there who will pay £50 for GTA9 etc.

Although you could argue much has changed with the advent of content delivery platforms like Steam, XBLA, PSN etc. Some great and cheap indy games on that that would have never seen the light of the day otherwise.
 
Problem here is 90% of people will simply just fork out the extra coin, making it more likely others will follow suit and hike their prices up :(
 
I can't blame them really. The development costs nowadays must be huge. Remember back in the day when Street Fighter 2 was around £50. Street Fighter 2 probably only cost £50 to make lol.
 
It's times like this I just want to high five myself for having my 360 flashed because I didn't want to re-buy SF IV when I switched from playing the PS3 version. :p
 
Good thing I buy FPS for my PC instead of my consoles. But it’s still a joke, the days of cartridge prices games at £50 + should not make a comeback. It was accepted 10 years ago because of the price it cost to make the cartridges but with digital media and especially digital distribution prices shouldn’t be rising.
 
I'd sooner bend over the front counter of a gameshop than pay £55 for a standard edition.
I'll consider it if it's ~£40 or less online.
 
That's just taking the pee really.Their excuse is a load of crap as well.
They are simply trying to milk the consumer for some more money.There is simply no reason why games should cost anymore than £45 unless you buy a special edition.
 
Where is all this extra tenner coming from?

COD4 is £49.99 RRP
COD5 is £49.99 RRP
Assassins Creed 2 is £49.99 RRP
Uncharted 2 is £44.99 RRP
inFamous is £49.99 RRP
Prototype is £49.99 RRP
Ghostbusters is £49.99 RRP
Batman Arkham Asylum is £49.99 RRP

I am sure the general rule (when consoles were released, respectively) was that 3rd party games would be £49.99 rrp and select 1st party published games would be £39.99, which seems to still be the case, generally.

MOST games on PS3 or 360 are £39.99 or £49.99 RRP. Very few people pay the £49.99 as most place online discount that by at least a tenner normally and even the high street discounts at least a fiver off RRP.

Who has actually paid £39.99 or more for a PS3 or 360 game (non peripheral based)? Granted this is a slight problem for people who shop in the highstreet (although I suspect it will be £49.99 or less in high street).

MW2 can be had for 42 quid pre-ordered. Lets say a few supermarkets start to undercut at release and its down to 30 quid. So its 5 pound more than i pre ordered MW1 for. It'll be worth it.
