***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

.:: New Ocuk L4D Server ::.

In order to support the ever growing numbers of people wanting games, I thought I would contribute to the community by providing an additional server for us to use. For now this is a single server capable of hosting L4D games.

Server Details

Name: Ocuk 7 - Defrag's Server
IP: 85.234.148.52:27025
Search Key: Ocuk

If you are an admin on any of the other servers, you are an admin on this one as well. All the CEVO Config files are uploaded and tested, including Links updated one for 26th/27th July 2009.

For those wanting to use the server, in the normal manner connect from the lobby either typing into the console "sv_search_key ocuk" (without the quotes) should get you any ocuk server or "ms_force_dedicated_server 85.234.148.52:27025" (again, without the quotes).

It is a public server, but if we want it and people are playing on it they can be gently persuaded to move along :)

Feel free to connect as much as you like. :)

A special thanks goes to Link for his assistance and help getting this server up and running and his top tips will come in very handy, something about banning a player called Kearney..... :D

If there are any issues, Myself, Link or Frenchtart (Aekeron) should be able to assist so post on here for help.

For the other Server Admins, I have a MOTD and HOST file I created which you are more than welcome to use. I know Link used the MOTD file with his own HOST page, but I do have HOST web files for Ocuk 1 through 7.

Enjoy!

Woot :)

I'll just leave this here:

:(

I have everything on 'Low/Medium' now and my GTX280 is still overheating to about 80C :(.

Meh.

Ive found the stock cooler is pretty decent. I overclocked my card a bit and now the fan stays at 40% and doesn't raise with the temp. When i exited the game and looked at the temp it was around 90oc. Not sure what they're safe up to but i should think 80oc is OK. I've now set it to 60% and it goes to 70oc max in game. I still need to sort a profile out so that it only uses the clocked profile in games.

If your fan is going 100% then it definitely shouldn't be over heating. You don't want to be setting it to low/medium with an expensive card like this, i have everything maxed out with mine. I'd have a play with fan speeds and set it to 100% and see if it still overheats.

90 is a bit too close to the limit for my liking. My 260 got to 83 usually but didnt get any hotter as the fan adjusted it self up. (my 260 is also faulty/overheating and being RMAed)

The card should declock it self when a 3d app is not running (desktop etc) to save power and keep it cool, only works if you have 1 screen though... :(

Get evga precision for a nice easy clocking tool, profiles and fan adjustments.

Edit: close game on the late 8v8 last night too! 200 - 5000 :D haha

Looks like I'll just have to put up with Low settings. The GTX280 fan is on 100% and with low settings it still hits 70-80c. :(

Something you may have overlooked, when my 4870 was overheating it turned out I just needed to clean the dust from inside the heatsink.

now l4d2 is on the way, will they not bother to make more maps for l4d? i know we have custom maps, but the crash rate and bugs in some of them is crazy.... Death Abroad is very good though, some of the others have been a shambles with getting lost or stuck

I think any map made for L4D will work with L4D2, so it probably will work, just not vice versa. With this in mind they might make another official campaign for the first game, maybe using the lighthouse survival map as the finale, but we'll see...

In other words they won't be wasting their time. Also all custom maps are supposedly going to work with both games, so they will continue coming. :)

That's what I've read as well, all should be compatible.

I'm continuing to hone my map making skills in the hope that I'll be able to produce a decent map by the time Left 4 Dead 6 is released

they said that they will not be directly compatible, as a few changes for the new director and stuff will be needed for l4d2

but map makers should be able to sort it out very quickly.
