If i were a Christian, i would say that Muslims don't accept a Trinity as they apply human limits to what a God can do. They will say god can not be a god and a man at the same time. However, by saying that, you are saying God is limited, not unlimited.
Oh, i sound like a preacher.
Anyway, i do not see the point in wearing the headscarf as a policewoman unless i was of that particular religion. Why would an 'unbeliever' be interested in respecting something they don't believe in? Tolerance and respect are not the same thing. An average office worker being asked to wear a hard hat when visiting a building site is something i can understand though.
Maybe Muslim women who wear a burka should be obliged to remove it when asked to by Jack Straw or others who don't wear burkas, without complaining? It should work both ways without offence to either side.

Why does stuff like this happen? i mean seriously...NOBODY in this forum thinks this is a remotely good idea by any stretch...and i know that without reading it all. for goodness sakes. who the hell comes up with this crap, and why is nobody stopping it.
useless waste of time, money and effort. not to mention they will look like complete idiots.
i know im ranting...but this is just one small example of the crap that happens all the time in this country and im starting to question WTF is going on.

What a complete and utter ****ing crass thing to say! This thread is about the differences between how the different aspects of religion either are or are not tolerated in this Country, and you have to drag race into it!
Why? White people practise the Muslim faith too you know, or are you really that shallow, pathetic and poorly educated on the matter that you can't distinguish between race and religion?
If they don't have a warrant, you can make whatever demands you want. Even then if the police have any respect they would.
Do the police take their shoes off when they enter a Mosque as well then? They should do if they are being polite.
So next time I am being chased by the policewoman I must remember to run into a mosque cause be the time she gets her shoes off and puts her scarf on I'll be long gone out of the back......
Mosques are pretty busy places. I can guarantee you if you ran into my local mosque running from the police people would apprehend you on the spot. Also as people have said the protocol for pursuit isn't mentioned in the article, and if you use an ounce of common sense it obviously won't apply.

I see no problem. Muslims are part of the population arn't they. they pay tax and vote?
When entering a Church police wear what is expected, it just happens that the church is less strict and its traditions match those of our police.
If suddenly the rest of societies standards "slipped" and cops started wearing mini skirts or hot pants they would probably have to dress differently when entring places of religion. (or just change the rules of the church like the past)
Like I say it just happens that Christian values match those of our land and thus the police because Christianity has been in our country longer.
Many visits will be simple chats and a headscarf shows respect and doesn't cost much and if it helps then that is what matters.
However if there was some kind of serious crime and stuff needed to be done so to speak I wouldn't exactly make the SWAT team wear them, they would simply be optional and an additinonal way of showing respect but safety should take presidence. No kind of backlash should be available to the mosque should an officer not wear one.
A legitimate argument is cost, but this douesn't cost much. the other is simply the Daily Mail crew complaining about the degragation of tradition and dislike of change imo.

To be honest I think the world is going slightly mad my wife and I recently returned from our holiday in Egypt we visited the Mohamed Ali Mosque in Cairo and found it to be one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen (yes my wife and two daughters had to cover there heads and knees).
My point is over there we noticed that you have churchs right next mosques and they have a healthy respect for each others religion. So what is wrong with a little tolorance in this country why is it such an isusse.
As for the comment from Chimerical I think a little compsion and Education in the differance between race and religion would help
