Anyone not like being overtaken?

Another thing I don't get, when you overtake a car on the motorway (usually a people carrier driven by a middle aged man), then a 1min later it comes flying past at 100+. Then 5mins later you pass it doing 60/70 .

I've noticed that. What ever happened to keeping your speed constant?

I can't understand some people either. I remember overtaking an oldish guy in a new Merc a while ago. I had followed him for some time and he never managed to reach much above 45 mph, i passed him when it was safe to do so and hardly at warp speed (he was dong 45 mph afterall). I got the full treatment, main beam, horn and hand signals. Perhaps the artic lorry that had been behind me and was also passing him may have suggested to him that he may have been traveling a little slowely

About a week ago I watched some of the most suicidal overtaking i've ever seen. Some young guy in an older Honda Civic who was really on a mission. I could see it catching me in my rear mirror, it came straight past me without the slightest hesitation and pulled in, then out past the 2 cars in front round a blind bend. Then onto the straight past 3 cars into oncoming traffic and forced itself back into a gap that didn't exist causing a number of cars to bake sharply. He was then out passing again, I never saw its wreck at the side of the road so he must had made it to where he was going.

From your posts we can all tell that you won't grow up because of a few posts on the internet.

Have you considered its got nothing to do with whether you're going fast enough?

It's rare I get overtaken to be honest. However when I am, normally the person brakes as soon as they get infront of me, it winds me up but I'd never do what happened in the OP!

Gotta love it when people lose their tempers though. I once went round a roundabout and a guy in a Merc went to pull out infront (even though I had ruight of way) but he couldn't and I just carried on as normal. Next thing I know he's right behind me headlights and foglights on, next roundabout he pulls up next to me and shouts "****ing lightweight" !

Ignoring him I just carried on (was going to Basildon Festival Leisure Park) and he followed me to the carpark, and parked a couple of spaces away. He got out of his car, bright red face looking for a fight.

So me and 3 mates got out of my car (and they aren't small mates either) his expression went from  to  to :o

Got in his car and drove off.

Ahhh Essex :p

if someone ever gets out of the car...

leave your car running, wonder over to his car/him

throw his keys over a hedge, then jump back in your speed mobile, and floooooor it

If they overtake me safely, then no problem.

It's people who will do anything to get past you or others coming the other way that really **** me off.

Tailgating is the thing that really annoys me though, you could be the only 2 cars on the road and they'll still stick to your bumper.
Why not drop back a few car lengths and just relax.

TBH forget about overtakers, what about pedestrians who walk down the road and shout at you to slow down? these people have laser guided speed detectors in their eyeballs surely?

The other day in Newbury I was doing an exact 30mph on a 30mph road and some woman shouts out "SLOW DOOOOWN!" while walking her dog :D

I find it very amuzing when I get overtaken and about a minute or 2 I'll be behind them at the interestion or traffic light.
