There are just as many muggings in the "north" as there are south of the river. In fact I'd even suggest there are probably more north of the river - the West End is notorious for being the highest number of street crimes reported.

Seriously - don't bother. You'll get yourself badly injured or worse. Just give in, or make sure you don't get yourself in the situation, and try to be more streetwise. Or run - nothing wimpy about that.

It not just because of this event, i have always had a thing for the israeli army and their tactics. I am probly going overbored though and will make sure to stay in public places

i got to disagree but not for what you think. it is a good idea to learn self defence whether you use it or not. its a skill to posess when you truly might need it, living in london that will be sooner or later. i wouldnt be typing this if it wasnt for that skill.

, I honestly don't know what Id do in that kind of situation. I read what you posted about the scum and that fire extinguisher, smashing windows - it would give me great satisfaction to see people like that put through immense pain

the reason why most crime is in central is because its crowded area and hotspots for alcohol.

looking streetwise come off it..
i mean there is people i know. that are hood and streetwise and they still get mugged by other guys in different areas. why cause they just waiting for you to be slipping(caugh off guard) so they take your ****.
to be honest i found that offensive to the OP. telling him to be streetwise as if he is some recluse and doesnt know what happens in london. he is 16 and lives in london. im sure he knows whats what. if your a teenager in london, you are pretty much more streetwise than an adult and more likely know the bad kids. because last time i checked the people that got happy slapped wernt kids. they were adults on public transports and it was the kids dishing them out. so how comes the adults wernt streetwise then

Being streetwise and staying in public places helps abit but not always. Ive been upstairs on a bus and the kid sitting one behind me who happens to lives up my street was getting mugged by two chavs. I felt terrible knowing what was going on behind me. But they didn't physically hert him and were "only" taking a few quid from him so I didn't intervean. Yes I felt terrible but its a sign of the times. I didn't know if they are carrying knives etc and interveaning for a few quid when the kids not getting physically hert, as bad as it sounds I did not want to risk my own safety and nor did anyone else upstairs on the bus. Then the chavs just ran down stairs push the emergency button on the rear door on the bus and ran off.
I still kick myself for not interveaning but as I said before for a few quid its simply not worth the risks nowadays

stay in well light areas and main roads. dont walk in side streets unless u are familar with the area. dont cut through estates
and stay away from any hoodrat girls im sure you saw the news recently about that girl in south london that setup her supposed boyfriend to get beat up and killed by gang and robbed
This is what I'm getting at mate, at the moment you seem to be thinking, " if I go back to that area, this guy is going to be waiting for me".
You need to overcome that. I am just trying to help based on personal experience.
