"Titan Apollo" 15.4" Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad 2.00GHz+ Gaming Laptop Pre Order

Yeah was gonna ask about that - the last time I head the mobile "260" was actually pretty much identical to the 1gig 250GTS desktop part :( still not too shoddy tho for mobile useage.

Processor Cores 112
Gigaflops 462
Processor Clock (MHz) 1375 MHz (This is actually shader clock - 550MHz Core)
Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 31

So basically sitting somewhere between an 8800GT and a 250GTS performance wise - not sure what the core actually is atm - but as it manages quite a bit higher gflops at the same number of SPs and less core MHz than the 8800GT I'm assuming its newer than G92 based.

Last I heard it was based off the same core as the older 9800M models, tweaked slightly and running higher clocks.

Thats what I heard... still does me - want something to replace my main desktop, that doesn't take up too much space but still has the horse power to test my video game development stuff out... currently running an E6600 + 8800GT in that PC so it would be a good replacement.

Stolen from Notebookcheck:
The NVidia GeForce GTX 260M is the high-end graphic card of the 200M series and based on the G92b core. Therefore, the chip is a 9800M GTX with slightly higher clock rates of 550/1375/950 against 500/1250/800. It is produced in 55nm. Therefore, it is not similar to the Desktop GTX 260 but somewhat similar to the 9800 GT.

Thats very much like what Im looking for at the moment; to reduce space, power consumption, heat et al, (not to mention use on my frequent late shifts) but still retain enough power to for gaming and over uses :)
Im expecting to lose a little speed, but the less I have to compromise, the better haha

Yeah less power/heat too, plus if I'm in the mood I can disconnect it from the KVM and still work on stuff on the go/away from my desk.

yeah I noticed it, thanks also has a GTX280 ....which is more like a 260 I persome ......

GTX 280M is basically a desktop 9800GTX/GTX+, SLI them and thats actually pretty good performance, hefty cost though, think [a competitor] charges about £700 to upgrade from a single GTX260M to SLI 280M. IIRC they also charge ~£300-400 to upgrade to SLI 260M.

Silly money really :(

However for various reasons, people are sometimes willing to pay that; whether its to make a machine last longer, because they travel, they don't have space etc etc.

This needs an ETA :(

I'm sold - specially as its the best pricing around, but looks like at this rate I'm gonna have to suck it up and go elsewhere.

It seems ******** have them in stock for around the same price, but I would really prefer to buy from you guys (even if I would have to wait another month). Could you please provide at least an ETA?

Theres a number of places that have them in stock but... they are a bit more expensive for the equivalent spec (I wouldn't pay the extra personally) and both places I asked said they only have the US keyboard available for immediate delivery - for UK you have to wait 8-10+ days.

I've also heard that OcUK is likely to have them in stock with the UK keyboard within a week or so.

The ETA is up on site now - its says 7/08/09, so just a few days. Fingers crossed this is an accurate date. I am hoping to get one of these.

Also, the old 'Ultima Mobile' (with 9800M GTS) is still in stock, maybe they are waiting to sell all those before bringing in the new model? However it is more expensive than the new model (which has the much better GTX260M), so I dont think they will sell without a discount.

It was up earlier for 4/08/09 but that went :(

I have an order in for one with the Q9000 so getting impatient here :S at even if its in stock on the 7th it prolly won't be out for delivery until late next week :S

Hope not as I can get them elsewhere now for almost the same price (instock) so if it goes back again I'll prolly cancel... but I'd rather go with OcUK.

I only got vague responses to actual / firm delivery dates, and some odd answers to SSD drive queries. I have gone somewhere else. Shame, as the price is good.

Does anyone know why only a 2 year warrenty is offered? (not even an option to pay for a third year)

Check the bus width aswell, as i found that most lappy gc have a smaller controller. I got 9800gtm sli in my lappy, not bad performance but you can tell that they are under cut in some way.
