*** PSU Deal! In Stock now! ***

Just ordered one, too!

Spent ages looking for a beefy modular PSU for a compact gaming system I'm building into a Silverstone Sugo SG03, was just about to order a Corsair for considerably more £££ and then saw this - thanks OcUK! :D

Could anyone comment of the noise of this? - since it doesn't say silent so it could be loud :p

Compared to say a Corsair?

will this have connections for a 4890 8pin and a 6 pin as my 600 wat only has 2 6 pins :(

Funny story, my 600W ModXStream has 4x 60pin & 2x 8-pin PCI-E connections. I've got the 2 8-Pins linked up to my 4890, and nothing's melted yet. It confused the dickens out of me, because I couldn't work out how to connect all my fans up - now I've got all 3 case fans running off 1 6-pin socket, and everything works great.

The 600W is a whisper, I can't imagine it being too much louder.

I challenge you to find a premium brand PSU with 780W at a better price :)

It may seem premium but i doubt the voltages are accurate, i've got a gamerXstream and the voltages differ a fair amount from what they should be. From the PSU reviews i've read OCZ PSUs don't tend to have very stable voltages and ain't great in judder tests.

What sort of system can this power? I'm currently running a 600w - is the 780w a significant step up? I'd be looking at it powering a quad with oodles of RAM, several HDD's, maybe a pair of mid to high end gfx cards, oodles of RAM and a watercooling pump.

Hate the blue LED to be honest.

just got one and installed - having problems with pc dying.

got 7750be 2.7ghz - when trying little overclock to 2.8ghz with everything else at default in bios I run prime95 and after a minute computer dies.

got 7750be, hyperx 4gb 1066 (@800), achillees, ECS GeForce 8100VM-M5 mobo, gtx 260

had generic 400w and could oc to 3ghz - only got 780w as advice on net was needed more juice to safeguard components.

doing RMA but really want to swap with corsair - if they test it and find nothing wrong am I stuck with the 780w?

Not quite what premium means. The atx spec lists a % variation allowed on the 12V, 5V and 3.3V lines. Anything better than this isn't really needed, but is widely considered to improve overclocking and increase component lifespan.

What premium means in this context is a power supply that will actually supply its rating without failing. Try drawing 600W from a £20 800W psu and it'll melt. This one will actually supply 780W if you ask it to

Providing you don't try to draw all of it from a single rail of course.

OCZ psus vary in quality across the range, but even the stealthxstream are very good for the money. It certainly qualifies as a premium brand, just not the absolute top of the pile. In fairness, they also own pc power and cooling, who actually are fighting with seasonic for top dog

Hello again Captain, sorry to hear of your plight. Either it's faulty and will be replaced, or its incompatible with your motherboard. As there's no way you could have known this ocuk should be happy to take it back anyway. I wonder if psu is why I couldn't get anything out of my ecs board, though I still think it was the ram. GTX260 is way overpowered for your processor :)

thks for response jon - could I get a diff psu though or money back? or even if paid the extra? looking at tx650 as is single rail.

What processor suits gtx 260 then out of interest? (mine is Zotac 192)

As to which processor would not limit your card, you'll have to ask someone else I'm afraid. It's disproportionately good compared to the processor in my eyes, but gamers always do spend more on card than cpu so perhaps I'm wrong.

Hard to tell with ocuk, I think it depends a bit on who you speak to. The psu being incompatible with the board sucks but is reasonable grounds to return it, so if you get anyone slightly rational I think they'll do the part exchange for you. Single rail is where its at, though I'd be hard pushed to justify this if questioned I definitely prefer it :)

Ok is it just me or do the links for the PSU in the OP not work now as the product isn't available anymore? Shame as this would have been perfect for my new build :(

I've got this all wired up now to an i7 setup

One thing that annoys me is a constant high piched wine from these
anyone else get it?
